Editorial Review for Hungry Brain – by Jennifer Olvera
The Scene
Mismatched, Salvation Army-style furniture scatters the dim, candlelit space, which is commonly filled with musicians, artists and actors-to-be. Locally concocted paintings, including a guy undergoing brain surgery and a woman--supposedly Joan Crawford--getting slapped. Peppered with Schlitz paraphernalia, playbills and worse-for-wear seating that's surprisingly comfy, this approachable, low-key space is easy to settle into for an inexpensive brew or two.
The Draw
One of the few bastions of affordable alcohol remaining, here you'll find everyday prices that will leave you demanding a $1.50 PBR ASAP. The full bar churns out whatever you want, but none-too-shocking mixed drinks like gin and tonics and Long Island iced teas appear to reign supreme. Diverse tunes from the juke range from Johnny Cash and Dean Martin to White Stripes and the Donnas, while blast-from-the-past games like Arkanoid and pinball leave you longing for simpler times.

Killer jukebox (Dismemberment Plan, Archers of Loaf, etc.), cheap drinks, nice folks. A winner in my book.
