“The atmosphere was buzzing yet not overcrowded, the bands were cool (Planet Delirium and I Decline rocked the house!)”
“went here once and this place is a great divish bar.”
“hear the food is good too.”
not to good this time.
I have been there twice - both times to see live music
the first time it was pretty good - drink prices and food prices were "ok" - I went again last night (6-26-11) and talked some friends into going too that had never been ,,,,,
that was a M I S T A K E .........
Our group was over 21 yrs even tho it was an all age show there was a band we wanted to see live - the back room... OMG ... is it even legal to have that many people in a totally sealed up room in that heat .... it smelled.. like .. well lets just say "IT SMELLED" ,,, BAD ,,,, no air flow ... all could have been avoided by either ceiling fans or other large fans placed through out the room -
and the sound guy ..... all he did was chat it up on his cell phone and to the females guests that were there ....
Ive seen all of the bands many many times before live around the city ..... the sound that this sound guy produced was more like bad am radio ...
Ill try it one more time on another live show .... one good - one bad .... we'll see if any improvements are made the 3rd time ....
Get some BIG FANS and LOOSE that "couldn't be less interested" Sound guy
Terrible Male Bar Tender.
Get rid of him.
He wears a hat because he is going bald. He has tattoos. Short stature and thin.
Didn't give me the time of day to make a decision on what cigarettes to buy as I ordered my $8 red bull vodka. He walked away and stood in the corner pretending to be pissed off with life and humanity. It's your job buddy, deal with it.
Love it. I have never had anything bad to eat, and they have a good selection of beers. I have to admit I prefer this place in the summer when you can sit outside, but other than that, this place is fab!
Roscoe Village neighborhood bar mixes it up with scrumptious food and live music every night of the week..
The Scene
Christmas lights, orange-sherbet-colored walls and casual kitsch make this Roscoe Village joint a cozy hangout. The Beat Kitchen has been building a loyal clientele for a decade and now welcomes new faces from the booming Belmont axis. Nevertheless, the atmosphere is low-key even at its busiest, retaining the beer-drinking crowd. The back room serves as Beat Kitchen's live music venue, featuring local rock bands nearly every day of the week along with the occasional bigger name. Shows start at 9:30pm. On weekends, cover is charged at the front door; on weekdays, at the back door.
The Draw
You really can't go wrong with the tasty grilled and baked dishes at Beat Kitchen. The most popular orders are the corn tortilla soup, Beat salad, Southwest grilled chicken sandwich and Thai pizza. Dishes range in price from $5 to $10.50, and the menu changes every six months.
AWESOME Time!. Although the drinks were standard, as was the service, this club still had it going on! The atmosphere was buzzing yet not overcrowded, the bands were cool (Planet Delirium and I Decline rocked the house!), and everyone was there for a great time. Nice! I hear the food is good too...
