“The orange is like a sorbet and cleanses the palette before you get down to the other flavors; the pistachio has almonds in it along with pistachios, that way it has a nice balance, not too salty; Palmer House works as a nice halfway point- I sometimes ge”
“Bring any and everyone you know who likes ice cream and have a blast!”
“Though you can order any flavor you'd like, not getting a rainbow at rainbow cone is like eating a salad at a chop house.”
“Great service.”
“know this ice cream is pricey, but so well worth the taste experience.”

Worth a pilgrimage to Beverly at LEAST once a month in summer. Don't even consider veering away from the sky-high rainbow cone combo. You'll never finish your own, but you'll envy everyone around you if you order something else. (Yep, speaking from experience.)
A Southside tradition. If you've never been...go. If you don't live nearby it's worth the drive. You're towering Rainbow will be like a tiny taste of heaven! Though you can order any flavor you'd like, not getting a rainbow at rainbow cone is like eating a salad at a chop house. Bring any and everyone you know who likes ice cream and have a blast!
Ice cream lovers make pilgrimages from miles away for these five-flavored cones..
The Scene
This restaurant has been forming these unique cones here since 1926. Lines get long in the summer, so plan on a wait. There are a few picnic tables out back, but it's standing room only inside, where kids will love watching cone production. Look for a big pink building on this rather desolate stretch of Western Avenue--the Evergreen Country Club golf course is across the street, but fenced off and inaccessible.
The Food
The "original rainbow cone" is composed of five flavors--chocolate, strawberry, pistachio and Palmer House (cherry flavored, with chunks of cherry and walnut) ice creams, along with orange sherbet--packed into a wedge atop your cone. The Palmer House variety is terrific on its own, with huge pieces of cherries throughout. Similarly, the pistachio is loaded with nut chunks. The same rainbow flavors can also be packed to go--and in the same multicolored style.
Now you're talking.. This place is great for ice cream anytime on the go. You'll meet alot of genuine people here,no fake smiles. If they like you they really like you.Thats the south side way.But if you want to sit and eat your ice cream I suggest Gerties they're all over the south side and what does the editor mean by out of the way? I suppose downers grove and Mt. prospect are just around the corner, duh!
Creamy and Tasty. This venue has been around since I was a little girl. They have staying power because it's just good homemade ice cream.
92nd Rules!!. The ORIGINAL Rainbow Cone is great!!! It is located on 92nd and Western and the service is outstanding. The employees do an excellent job serving their customers and their management is great. The 92nd and western Rainbow Cone is very family welcome and has awesome ice cream flavors including black walnut and butter pecan.
Name All 5 Flavors!. The most unique ice cream cone to be had! The flavor combination is fantastic, and original. This is a South Side gem that everyone needs to discover. Loved them since I was a kid. Many imitators, none as good as the original. Lines OUT THE DOOR, spilling onto the street, seasonally, but well worth the wait.
Eat Rainbow Cones at Every Meal!. Only place I have ever seen with this idea. It is a fun little time out, watch the cars pass on Western Ave.... And its goooood! Palmer House, cherryific! Love the Rainbow cone. Nuthin like it!
