Editorial Review for The Note – by John Dugan

The Scene
Blue light bathes the interior (the club was previously the jazz-oriented Blue Note), and there's a small bar near the entryway. Further inside, the main bar in the music room beckons with glowing glass bricks. Otherwise, it tends to be kept dark here. You might miss the room full of pool tables near the front.

The Draw
The Note is a catch-all music venue serving the densely trafficked Damen/Milwaukee/North intersection. Local acts specializing in Latin rhythms, plus house, reggae and hip-hop DJs draw a somewhat international, professional crowd to residency gigs; the club's a sure bet for those who like dancing and joining the show themselves. On other nights (or during early sets), an eclectic blend of burgeoning local and regional rockers hone their live performances. Typically DJs spin hip-hop until the wee hours, making this a banging late-night party spot.

User Reviews for The Note

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I stopped in to hear a friends rock band, and also got to see a humorous Canadian poet perform, as well as a latin/hip hop dj. Not buying that Canadians CD has been one of the biggest regrets of my life. This place is a bit on the smallish (long and narrow) side, but the folks are always mellow, and there are lots of great restaruants within walking distance for when those late night munchies.
