Editorial Review for Betty's Blue Star Lounge – by Karla Zimmerman

The Scene
Blue is the definite motif, starting with the namesake, window-front neon star and carrying inside to the midnight blue-painted walls and thick navy drapes. The long, rectangular room is spare: three scallop-backed, circular booths by the entrance, a pool table midway, and dance floor in back. Exposed brick walls and dark-wood floors run throughout. Illumination comes mostly from blue neon and the dance floor's flashing lights, which streak across in an array of colors. The lengthy bar spans three-quarters of the west wall, leaving plenty of room to order premium concoctions, such as apple martinis and Jagerbombs (Jagermeister and Red Bull), or tap beers like Stella Artois and Blue Moon.

The Draw
A modest neighborhood tavern in the early evening, Betty's throbs from midnight on, especially on weekends. DJs spin nightly with an emphasis on Billboard-oriented hip hop, inspiring mod, spiky-haired 20- and 30-somethings to bump and grind on the heaving dance floor.

Know Before You Go

Betty's is casual, but not casual enough for you to look like a schlump--no sport jerseys, baseball caps, baggy pants or tennis shoes.

First time there was an awesome night for me and my friends. We wanted to try some place different so we went there.Besides the fact that their drinks were pricey and cover charge on a friday night was ten bucks, the dj was great!!He played everything we wanted to hear, and we couldnt stop dancing the whole night! The lounge is a bit small and gets packed, but when your having a good time you can care less!I enjoyed my time there and i look forward to going back soon!
