The Course
Judging by Harborside International's stunning clubhouse and two impeccably manicured golf courses, it's hard to believe that this first-rate facility sits atop a Lake Calumet
landfill. The elevation of millions of tons of waste, however, offers a dramatic view of the Chicago skyline.
The Experience
Modeled after the seaside links of Great Britain, Harborside's rolling Port and Starboard courses are deceptively challenging. Their elevation leads to tricky winds, and what they lack in trees, the courses more than make up for in sand. Bunkers are plentiful and deep--Port's anchor-shaped 15th hole is particularly brutal, with what seems like more sand than grass.
