The Joseph and Mary Grimshaw Egyptian Gallery reopened May 1999, after being closed for three years for renovation and expansion. The new climate-controlled environment enables the museum to exhibit items previously kept in storage, including fragile textiles, mummies, papyri and metal. Other galleries include those devoted to Mesopotamia, Assyria, Persia and Nubia.
