Amateur-Friendly. Only recently have I discovered the joys of sushi. At this restaurant, all of the food, including the sushi, really is a joy. I'm often apprehensive about trying new foods and nervous about what to order, but the menu made everything very clear. I knew exactly what I was ordering, and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. And the food itself? I couldn't get enough. Everything was fresh and prompt, and the servings were more than enough. I look forward to going back.

Fresh, tasty sushi in comfortable and well-staffed setting. Great value!. We almost went to Sushi Luxe, but boy are we glad we gave Tokyo Marina a chance! The service was excellent--prompt and attentive. The meal started with complimentary tea and miso soup which on a very cold night, was extremely welcome. Our rolls and pieces came quickly and were large, fresh, and incredibly flavorful. Their rainbow roll was the best I've ever had and the dragon roll came damn close to the best I've ever had. Presentation of the rolls was also very nice. We were in a bit of a hurry with haircut appointments at Sine Qua Non across the street (see my review! they're great!) and the server accommodated our schedule. We'll definitely go back for a great meal and a great value.

Neighborhood Japanese spot with a diner feel attracts a local crowd for inexpensive sushi.. In Short
Generous portions and casual presentation highlight this Ravenswood sushi spot, where customers are treated to enormous nigiri and maki. Appetizers are highlights too: Gyoza dumplings are fresh and hot, while the chicken yakitori translates to two skewers packed with chicken, onions and green peppers. Sake is bargain-priced--the large is plenty for two to share.

Sushi is not fresh here. Very mediocre sushi, unprofessionally done. They don't have wasabi on the sushi as it should have, and the sushi rice is not cooled, even warm, so it is bad. Not that cheap either, about $2 per piece of nigiri sushi.

A Jilin Loyola MBA girl loves their Dragon Roll, but it's the same as anywhere else, with not so comfortable seats, as she says.

The only reason to dine here is if you live in the neighborhood. There is no need to travel to Tokyo Marina just to eat there. Certainly not for their sushi!

Home of the Giant Sushi & Rolls. I dub this place "Home of the Giant Sushi & Rolls." The rolls & sushi tastes great, and the freshness is comparable with some of the best sushi places in Chicago.

And I never knew I can get full on rolls only....

some of the best sushi in chicago. The fish here is some of the best in Chicago -- high quality, fresh, well-prepared, and BIG. Tokyo Marina serves seriously mouth-filling hunks of fish. If you are a sushi lover, and want to enjoy fish for the sake of fish, this is the place to go. The atmosphere here, however...don't expect much. It's pretty basic, with cheap furniture, linoleum floors, and bad lighting. But so what? I'd take this over Sushi Wabi any day.

Very High Quality, Non-Ritzy Atmosphere. I've tried about 10 different shishi bars/rest. in Chicago and this is still the best tasting/best value. The nigiri/sashimi (sushi grade fish) is EXCELLENT. Better quality food than ritzy places such as Tsunami and better atmosphere than "hole in the wall" dives near Clark/Belmont. Most of my Asian born friends agree. It's pretty far North on Clark but worth the trip if you're into really good Japanese food with a standard no frills shushi bar atmosphere.

WoW!. Dont let the simple decor fool you. I went to eat with a few friends and ended up not being able to finish it all. The portions are huge, and well priced. For $4 you can get 2 of the largest salmon pieces I think I have ever been served. It is not all sushi either. They also serve some Thai and Chinese dishes.

It is a real neighborhood place, and gets really packed after 5 and on weekends. Well worth it.
