Great NY style pizza

I'm from NY and NJ and this is the closest pizza I've found to home. We always have delivery since the location is a bit sketchy at night. This is definitely the best pizza that I've found in the 2 1/2 years I've been in Chicago.

Nice delivery people too!

• Pros: great taste, good delivery service
• Cons: not much atmosphere, sketchy neighborhood especially after dark

It makes my top 6 list...

I consider myself strangely enough a Chicago pizza aficionado. My top 5 list for pizza in Chicago would not include Gigio's - but, it ranks just outside. The cheese is great, the sauce good, the toppings ok, and the crust above average.

So that you know where I'm coming from, my top 5 are the following: 1 - Renaldi's, 2 - Piece, 3 - Pequod's (a different kind of beast) 4 - Four Moon Tavern (so weird they serve such a good individual pizza) and 5 - Bacino's (Spinach).

Without being said, Gigio's is bar far the best pizza place in or remotely around Uptown. I'll be eating a lot of pizza from this local j0int so long as it stays above 95 degrees like today. I suggest getting take out or delivery.

• Pros: Cheese, Sauce, Great Neighborhood Location, Ample Parking
• Cons: You'll want to eat at home and it's sort of pricey for Uptown though not unreasonable for Chicago

Best Pizza in the wide-world

I first ate a slice of pizza at Gigio's when I was a kid (nearly 50 years ago) and I keep coming back. When I lived in Colorado I came home for pizza at Gigio's, when I lived in Florida, I did the same. Now that I'm home again I come to Gigio's and bring my family whenever I can. We all think Gigio's is the best pizza anywhere.

• Pros: Good service, good fast carryout, good food.
• Cons: Tight booths and not too many. Maybe trade out for tables.

Best slice in Chicago

I travel from Austin, TX for this pizza. Well, maybe not JUST for this pizza, but whenever I'm home, THIS is the pizza I want. The crust is perfect. The sauce is wonderfully seasoned. The cheese is real. The sausage is full of fennel. This is pizza the way it's supposed to be. And the fact that this place is a true dive only adds to its charm. No one seems to know about this place and it appears on no one's top 10 list of anything. But if you want the perfect slice, go here.

• Pros: The best pizza. Absolutely.
• Cons: Very funky neighborhood. Not a place a woman would want to go alone at night.

GREAT

This place is the best in the city. I hear too much hype about other pizza restaurants, but only because they spend the time and money marketing their product. Gigio's Pizza doesn't need the marketing. It is top noche, and Ginos East and the other users on marketing can't compare to Gigio's Pizza. The Ambience is not as great as the large chains, but I don't care. The Pizza is the best, and I would only settle for Gigio's.
