Editorial Review for Jade Dragon Tattoo & Body Piercing – by Forestter Cobalt
In Short
Jade Dragon is one of the largest tattoo shops in Chicago, and it's also one of the oldest. Fat Joe and Coco, the core of the shop, have a dedicated following and a reputation built on cleanliness. Long before other shops realized that the art was becoming legitimized, Jade was already as clean as a doctor's office. You're certain to see all of the steps involved in sterilizing the equipment--almost all of it disposable.

I got a cover-up tattoo here a couple years ago. I don't remember the artist's name, but he was in his late 20's, blond hair, and seemed to be more on the preppy side. He was very nice and helpful. I had an angel tattoo on my stomach that looked horrible, and it needed it replaced. He gave me some options and I went with a purple rose w/ lots of green vines. It covered the angel perfectly, and it still looks great. I was really happy w/ the service I received. I did pay $340, but it took the guy almost 5 hours to do it, so the price seemed fair in the end. And he did a really good job of working over my old tattoo, shading the flower just right and the vines too. Then they gave me a mousepad and a t-shirt.

where do i even begin to tell about my really bad expierence here. when my friend and I called to inquire about tongue piercig prices, they told us $40 on the phone, including the jewelry. however, when we arrived, it was a different price of $80. when I said no, one guy quickly brought the price down to $60. i still said no. as we were leaving, one guy followed us out of the store and said that they will do it for $50. we agree on the $50 and he takes the money from me while we are still OUTSIDE. I walk to the case where the tongue jewlry is and tell the man which one I want to use. he tells me, no, that since I am getting a discounted price, that I have to get the special-save ring. (i was afraid to ask what special-save meant) but I did anyway. he shows me a huge ring and tells me that that is what they will be using. i was like OMG no way! and politely asked for my money back. that was a hassle in itself. they couldnt find the piercer who the up front guy had given my money to. I waited almost 10 minutes, it just so happened that the guy was outside smoking a cigarette. when he finally came back in, he tells me that its okay to use the jewelry i picked out, but only for $30 more, back up to the original price of $80!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was enough. i managed to get my money back and hightail out of there as fast as we could. that place is so unprofessional and unclean, what were we thinking going there in the first place? a friend of mine just got a great piercing at mystic for $50, looks like thats where ill be going to get mine.
Pros: n/a
Cons: give diff prices over the phone and try to scam you for more money in person
