In Short – Two pinstripe-suited characters named Southside and Dixie pass out cigars and swill hooch out of brown bags during this bus tour, sharing how bootleggers, bagmen and bosses ran Chicago during Prohibition. Southside and Dixie drive the bus through Chicago neighborhoods like Chinatown, Pilsen, Little Italy, Greektown and Lincoln Park. Along the way, they tell stories of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre and the murder of John Dillinger outside the Biograph Theatre.

A Great Tour around the city!

by Ginbia30 at Citysearch

We set up this tour for our friends birthday weekend in the city. We were greeted by a huge old school-buss painted black with fake bullet holes scattered around it.

Our tour guides were awesome, we had "Al Dente" and "Louis" take us on a scenic tour around the city of chicago. They were both dressed in 20's ganster wardrobe and also spoke the part. They told us elaborate stories about Al Capone, John Dillinger the northside/westside feud, prohibition and so much more!

We listened to blues music/old italian music and thoroughly enjoyed our tour. The only con that we all had were a few women who joined at the last minute who spoke through the entire tour, very annoying!

So, if your looking to take a trip through chicago's history back from the good ole' prohibition days, we recommend it! Also, the items for sale were reasonably priced....we bought coffee cups for $6 bucks a pop!

  • Pros: Our tour guides rocked!
  • Cons: Rude guests (not the responsibility of the tour guides)

Fun for this family...

by cichopicobut at Citysearch

I just had to post a review here as this was one of the places I looked before making our reservations for the Untouchable Tour of Chicago. Based on the one review, I was worried about spending $88 for my family of four to take a two hour tour. Luckily, I had read other positive (and more recent) reviews and decided to take the chance. We had a great time!

The bus arrived a 1/2 hour before the tour was to start, so we knew we were in the right place. The guides greeted us cheerfully and in character, which was fun and made us feel comfortable about boarding.

Ok, so it was a bit cheesy, but that was part of the charm. There were plenty of laughs to be had if you listened carefully to the guides. Additional comments let us in on interesting facts of the windy city - past, present and future. There is even some speculation as to the cause of the great fire we had never heard. We were driven through all parts of Chicago that we, as tourists, would never have dared venture on our own, which was cool. There were give-aways of some of the products they sell and some of the tour is inter-active, so loosen up and participate!

If you are looking for seriousness and loads of educational information, by all means, skip this tour. If you are wanting a way to pass a couple of hours sitting back and enjoying yourself while being propelled through the crazy traffic, learning a few things, hearing some corny one-liners, having the chance to win a souvenir, taking in the sights Chicago has to offer - then make your reservations and have a good time!

Do Not Touch

by ralevadi at Citysearch

As a Chicago resident, I suggested that my friend (visiting from out of town) and I go on this tour that seemed like a fun way to spend a couple hours. I was wrong. While the bus was comfortable, there are MANY better ways to waste 24 dollars/ person. The guides were very cheesy and constantly spewing horrible jokes, with minimal interesting facts to share. In all fairness, there may be a lack of interesting facts on the topic (I doubt this is the case), but either way, it's far from worth the money or the time.
