Editorial Review for Superdawg Drive-In – by Citysearch Editors

The Scene
Featuring the Suddenserver automated order system, fun-to-pronounce menu items like the Whoopercheesie, and a folksy slogan ("From the bottom of my pure beef heart, thanks for stopping!"), this drive-in is a campy delight. Say "hi" to humanoid hot dogs Flaurie and Maurie, who blink and wave from the top of the building.

The Food
Don't miss the all-beef Superdawg, served in a blue-and-red box and topped with fluorescent relish, yellow mustard, mild onions, a dill spear and the sublime "pickalilly" (pickled tomato). The toppings only accessorize the frankfurter's dimensions (big), texture (firm but not rubbery) and taste (savory and nearly sweet), which are pretty close to perfect. All sandwiches arrive nestled in a bed of Superfries, crinkle-cut and perfectly salted.

The place looks like a pit but I guess you should expect that. The food's mediocre but it's an experience eating there. I guess that's why people go there - the experience. The dogs on the roof are kind of cute. For me it's a one time experience.

Pros: cute

Cons: so-so food and too expensive

The hot dogs are good but as for "cheap eats" hot dog with fries is 5 bucks get 2 your to 10 bucks add an extra tiny 5 dollar milk shake and you have a one expensive hot dog place. Go for the overall experience. Then go some where cheaper the next time you want a hot dog.

Pros: kitchy

Cons: very expensive
