Editorial Review for Diversey River Bowl – by Citysearch Editors
Overview
Even off-peak, this 36-lane alley transcends many, with state-of-the-art playing areas and high-tech waiting list (a machine snaps pictures of waiting patrons for display when lanes become available). But its claim to fame is the party-inspiring spectacle staged most evenings: Huge speakers pump out pop music, smoke machines puff and colored lights give everything a rainbow glow. The bowling-alley-as-nightclub approach draws loads of Lincoln Parkers on weekends, though the spot's crowd generally reflects Logan Square's diverse demographics.
The Experience
For teenagers and families, kinetic Diversey River Bowl is the rare place that's fun for everyone, not just because of the bowling and techie effects, but also the video games. For grown-ups, the well-stocked bar carries a dozen drafts and even more bottled beers, plus standard cocktail fixings; a menu of munchies contains typical fried goodies and other finger foods.

When to GoWeekly leagues and huge crowds on weekend nights keep this spot packed (though that's part of its high-energy charm); try a late weeknight for less company.
Save MoneyBowl Monday through Thursday for only $19 an hour per lane (one to five people per lane), instead of coughing up $32 an hour per lane Friday or Saturday night.

Let me tell you this... it does not have Ten Pin Lounge decor, but who gives a sh*t. You are putting on clown shoes and looking to blast some pins. The staff was accomodating and the drinks were strong. We ordered up some greasy appetizers and played a few games and it was $20 a person for a night out to bowl. Drinks are priced moderately and we drank a ton of em. Good time... relaxed place and I was serving up Turkeys all night.

Diversy Bowl is by far the best in the city. All the people are great and the atmoshpere is as good as a bowling alley can get.
