Messy Take Out, Good Food. Don't take your to go without first checking the contents, but eating in is not too bad. Matsuya's is still a better choice if it's more convenient to go there.
fresh, cheap, but rice......
The fish is fresh, the price is good, but the rice needs improvement!!! The rice on both the pieces and the rolls are too sticky and falls apart easily, also not chilled enough.
The maki also needs improvement, they're unprofessionally cut. I think the sushi chefs are actually Japanese.
Best thing about New Tokyo is price: $1.55/piece for salmon, tuna, red snapper, mackerel.... $1.75 for hamachi, scallop, unagi...
Good sushi standard. This is a great location for a reliable sushi experience. Grab a bottle of wine and order the Chicago Sushi. It comes with plenty of sushi and rolls, as well as a bowl of miso. It's a small location and tends to fill up fast, but that's why the location is so great. You can always keep on walking if you don't feel like waiting.
WOW! I LOVE THIS PLACE!. I stumbled onto this place by accident and am glad I did. The sushi was very fresh, the service good, and the restaurant very cozy. It was an excellent place to take a date or eat by yourself. I've never been more satisfied with the food served and will make this my new regular sushi hangout.
Great, Cheap Place. My top pick for sushi in Chicago. I love the sushi classic combo. Good service, decent atmosphere. Best of all- it won't break the bank.
A Homey Little Place. Gorgeous sushi and teriyaki at a very affordable price. Excellent service although frequently busy; however, also a telling sign that this is a popular place to eat.
