Penny's is no big surprise. Penny's is to Thai as McDonald's is to Burgers or Chipotle is to Mexican. It's clean, popular, predictable, but rather boring. Chicago is such a fantastic city for Thai food, it's amazing that Penny's is so popular with the Wrigleyville denizens. Perhaps it's because there are no surprises, it's part of a chain of restaurants, and there's nothing the least bit ethnic about it. The food is fresh, but not too spicy. The best thing about Penny's is the value for the money; otherwise, you can do much better at the many smaller Thai restaurants owned and run by Thai people.
fantastic restaurant. I have been going to penny's almost since they opened. I live in the suburbs over an hour away and we still try to make it up there once a week and by the way it is very romantic. The best value anywhere and the food is consistently great!!
Penny's #1?#@$?!. Penny's is a great place for people to go eat "Thai" if they've never heard of Pad Thai or Green Curry. The quality of food is great but the taste is very mediocre -- it lacks authenticity and most of all spice. Penny's is a great Pan-Asian restaurant, but I can think of 5 other restaurants in the city that deserve the award for Chicago's best Thai restaurant.
good service and good test at Penny's. I'm sure that whoever love thai food they will be love Penny's too., like us
Penny's Rocks. When I went I ordered pad thai. usually I like it crispy and many resturants for whatever reason will not throw the pad thai in a frying pan. penny's does! the pad thai was made with wide noodles (so they wouldnt sdtick to the pan) and it was so yummy! The Tom Kha Kai soup is also the best that I have had. Our server was very sweet and prompt. i totally recommend this place to anyone.. bring your kids too! it's a happening place!
Too Many Bland Noodles. Don't know what all the fuss about noodles is, I can buy them at a grocery store and make them at home for a whole lot less money and make them taste a whole lot better!
Penny likes Penny's. Penny's Noodle Shop has great food for great prices--especially good for students on a budget!
Best BYOB on North Side. I have never had a bad meal at Penny's. It is hand-down the best BYOB restaurant on the North Side. The down-side: It gets a bit crowed a lot but that doesn't mean a small group ever has to wait too long.
I do so love Penny's!. This is the tastiest noodle place ever! The fact that it's ridiculously cheap is a huge bonus. Noodles and soup in a bowl big enough to wear as a hat, fast service and a tidy place equals good eatin's for me!
9. Great food, and nice service. I've been to two of the Penny's Noodle shops and like both of them.
