A solid pick for a crowd-pleasing Italian feast. Stick to the bowls of yummy pasta and you can't go wrong. Daily specials and carry-out make this a great no-fuss weeknight pick.

In Short
Lines form at dinnertime when people stop in or take out on their way home from the nearby El, peruse the blackboard menu, order at the counter, and then wait for a server to bring out the food. The menu includes pastas, entree-sized salads and square slices of pizza like the Luigi, heaped with peppers, mushrooms and chicken. Calzone-like "strudels" are deceptively filling signature specialties. Cheesecake makes for a creamy finish.
thumbs up. wonderful pizza, salads, and pasta dishes. Don't miss the herb chicken ravioli!
Great value. I love stopping by for great salads and inexpensive pizza. Thank goodness they expanded to the North Loop to save the lunch-time business crowd!
great food, great location. Pompeii is great for after work. It's quick, cheap, and pretty tasty. I always get either the Mela Verde salad or the Chopped salad. Both salads are always fresh and enough for a meal. In the summer there is outside seating, however it's right next to the El so it's a little loud.
Now THAT's amore!. I could eat Pompei's Mele Verde salad everyday. It has mixed greens, dried cherries, green apples, walnuts, chicken, blue cheese, and a tasty vinaigrette dressing. Delicioso! The service is excellent too - it's quick and friendly. Conveniently located at Wellington and Sheffield, at the Wellington Brown Line stop. Worth a trip!
Constantly Worthy!. I've been going to Pompei at least twice weekly for two years now and I can always count on fresh, flavorful food. I'm a huge fan of the chopped chicken salad and love that the blue cheese is cheerfully substituted for goat cheese everytime. If you want tasty food, nice portions and a very clean atmosphere, stop in!
