“Great place to people-watch --- sit by the windows.”
“enjoyed my chicken sandwich--it was obviously freshly made, and the portions were satisfying.”
“After a long night this breakfast is amazing.”
good diner food. This is an old fashion style diner with newer healthier options for the contemporary Chicagoan. My wife likes to order turkey sausage and egg white omelet. I prefer real bacon with a bacon and cheddar omelet, tall stack of pancakes and a glass of whole milk. We're both happy!
Great Breakfast. After a long night this breakfast is amazing. Everytime I go here to eat I am never disappointed. Not only are their omelettes amazing, but the French Toast is killer. If your not in the moot for breakfast food you could always get one of their killer burgers.
Best Diner Food in Chicago!.
I've been in the city for about a year and a half now, and when I was in the mood to catch some diner food with my friends, my first inclination was always to go to Clark's at either the Lakeview or Lincoln Park location. This weekend my boyfriend and I decided to try Stella's because we had walked past it many times and wanted to try it. Upon entering and being seated immediately (you seat yourself here) we opened the menu and found that it was quite extensive and it was difficult to decide on what to order. I finally decided on the avocado and swiss chicken sandwich with french fries and my boyfriend got the southwest chicken sandwich with fries as well. I enjoyed my chicken sandwich--it was obviously freshly made, and the portions were satisfying. They didn't skimp on the avocado, it was extremely fresh--Stella's is probably my favorite place to get an avocado chicken sandwich, beating out other places such as Red Robin. My only complaint was that the french fries were kind of cold and soggy. My boyfriend felt the same about his fries, and he enjoyed his sandwich and the only complaint was that the salsa on his sandwich was oniony. I know I will definitely be back because there were so many enticing entrees left to try.
Overall:
Food: Great diner food
Price: Very reasonable, about $7 per entree.
Service: It wasn't very busy on the Friday night that we went, but our water was always filled when it was low, and our waitress was very accommodating and on top of things. The management was also very nice, asking us how our experience was and wanted to know if we were the new regulars :-)
I'll definitely be back, and if you're thinking of trying it, I'd highly recommend it.
Outstanding Breakfast Spot on Broadway!. If you don't mind waiting 30 minutes to be sat for your weekend breakfast or brunch, definitely request a patio seat at Stella's on Broadway. It's hard to beat any patio dining during the summer in Chicago, but, nothing beats patio dining on Broadway. I had pancakes with an assortment of fresh fruit, a side of chicken/apple sausage (a delicious/light alternative), and the best OJ I've had in quite awhile. My understanding is the omelets, french toast, and coffee were excellent as well. Highly recommend!!!
