What People Are Saying About Schubas

You may not know some of the rock-influenced indie pop bands at Schubas, but a year from now they might be the next big thing. A lot of young Midwestern acts on low-budget tours take the stage during the week, but weekends belong to more established performers like Freedy Johnston, Robbie Fulks and John Wesley Harding. This corner neighborhood hangout buzzes with a casual crowd of alt-rock and folksy types. Since the club is divided into a main bar and a live entertainment area with a door separating the two, you're able to toggle between hanging with friends and dancing. –
Great food, worst bartender ever!
by harrisonk1976 at Citysearch
On the bright side, Schubas books great bands and has terrific food (try the Mac n' Cheese or the Honey Chicken Brie sandwich) However, do NOT attempt to go on a Wednesday. My friend and I used to grab a drink every humpday at happy hour until we realized how unpleasant the bartender was. My friend's band plays there occasionally and she's even rude to the talent! Now we make an effort to get there later in the evening when they apparently change bartenders.
- Pros: food, music
Don't Miss Brunch At Harmony!!!

The brunch at Harmony is to die for. Saturday and Sunday mornings. They use fresh, local ingredients and their recipes are creative and delicious. Great for summer with the open air dining!
- Pros: great food, outdoors
- Cons: slow service
all in one and clean
by jepaloha at Citysearch
Schubas is my favorite venue. We start with dinner at the Harmony Grill which has great food and throws in a free bottle of wine if you make reservations for a show. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere pleasant. The historic music room will hold about 200 and is well preserved and like everything else, very clean. We saw Julia Fordham, Allison Moorer and Carrie Newcomer there this past season and took our kids to a kids Halloween show, it is quite kid friendly and the clientele well behaved. The bar is our last stop(when alone) and it is well run and friendly.
- Pros: clean, intimate, good value
- Cons: no seating in hall, parking tough
