In Short
A fixture since 1972, this French spot exudes a romantic feel, with wooden tables and simple red and white plates. Onion soup gratinee is a flavorful starter, but the focus is on savory and sweet crepes. Favorites include ratatouille crepe filled with squash, zucchini, eggplant, onion and carrots, and seafood crepe with shrimp and scallops in a light cream sauce. For dessert, the Grand Marnier crepe is fluffy and moist, seasoned with liqueur.

I'm traveling on business and took a cab to this place based on the reviews. It was good - but not worth the $30 cab fare (round trip)...The chicken curry crepe was fine but they couldn't kick it up (as requested). Instead, I was brought a bottle of hot sauce. The chocolate crepe for dessert was OK - but the crepe was hard to cut - which to me is counter intuitive for a crepe. This place is fine if you're out and about in Chicago and need to grab lunch - but I wouldn't go out of my way.

I went here at a friend's insistance and was really disappointed. The food didn't taste fresh and was not very satisfying. The dessert crepes were good, but for dinner go elsewhere.

La Creperie is a one of a kind restaurant. The atmosphere is amazing. The walls are full of French posters and images of France. There is a great front room attached to the bar and in the summer the windows are open and you can look on to the street. My favorite area to eat is the back courtyard. In the spring and summer the courtyard is filled with people, there is a fountain and lights in the trees. On occasion they have had live music which creates the feel of being in Paris. Now for the food. They crepes are truly amazing. My favorite is boeuf bourguignon or the creamed spinach. The french onion soup is also great. There is a great wine selection to pair with your crepes and the restaurant has a wonderful family run feel. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago and I try to take everyone I know there at least once. It is also right across the street for the landmark theatre making it a great place for a dinner & a movie date. A must for everyone!!
