Authentic Mexican Food, Wonderful Customer Service, Beautiful Restaurant. I went to El Mariachi for a friends birthday party about 5 years ago and now I am a regular customer and they know me by name. I just LOVE their food, but most of all I love their service. The employees, waitstaff and cooks are all so personable. Their margaritas are great!!!!!!!!!!!! They make them PERFECT everytime. What I love about this restaurant is it's authenticity and culture of Mexico. It is AUTHENTIC Mexican food made once I order it, its not prepared & sitting like other Mexican restaurants that I have been to. The carna asade dinner, chimichangas, tacos, tostadas, chips & salsa are WONDERFUL. The also have a wonderful Vegetarian Menu, which is extremely rare. My best friend is a vegetarian & I LOVE Mexican food & El Mariachi is perfect for both of us. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant & don't be fooled if you see people waiting for a table, the staff is great & there is room in the rear of the restaurant & perfect for couples. ENJOY
Great Mexican Food and Margaritas!.
Quick service and great selection of margaritas. Had to flip a few coins to figure out which one I wanted... and boy was I not disappointed. Large glasses and a nice buzz afterwards even with the chips and salsa before my enchilada. After ordering the food came out pretty quickly that we didn't even have time to even sip half of our margaritas! That is fast!!!
The opeing of the doors made it seem like outdoor dining even we were perplexed with the AC blowing on us in the dining room. Oh well gotta love the steamy summer in Chicago!
User review by marcil. Have been here many, many times and I keep coming back! My favorite Mexican food in the neighborhood! I have brought different guests and they all love it too. Great in the summer with the doors opened to Broadway!
Lakeview diners enjoy well-prepared Mexican favorites in a hushed atmosphere..
In Short
A dozen tables are packed into a bedroom-sized space at this quiet, low-key spot. The menu offers traditional Mexican dishes--burritos, tacos, enchiladas--as well as stellar seafood plates like the camarones al mojo de ajo, packed with chunks of garlic atop grilled in-the-shell shrimp. Also available are a number of steak and pork dishes served with everything from a green chili sauce to chipotle and chorizo.
Flavorful!. We've been 3 times in the past 3 weeks and have yet to be disappointed. Being vegetarian, it's so nice to have good, vegetarian options that are more than just cheese or grilled veggies. The Vegetarian combo platter is WONDERFUL! The chips are slightly greasy, but the salsa is great. And their classic margaritas are superb. And don't forget the sopapillas for dessert. Delicious!
Just like back home!. I just moved out to the midwest from San Diego about a year ago and I feel like the Mexican food was extremely lacking -until I found this place! The chips and salsa are the best (although, they brought out this new kind of salsa along with the regular last time and that was a bit wierd -actually oily). I could go everyday just for the chips and salsa! The margaritas weren't the greatest, but the food really was awesome! Summertime when they open the front up is the best for ambiance!
Amazing!. I have never had better Mexican food. Ever. But rbing your ID's, I'm 30 and look it but was carded anyway. Skip the margaritas, they aren't very good. But the food is the best Mexican food I have ever had. I cannot rave enough about the food. Service is fine, sit by the window, and order whatever you want. It is all good, and I will not go anywhere else for Mexican in the city of Chicago.
Authentic. You actually feel like your visiting a little restraunt in Mexico. The food is authentic, unlike many other mexican places in Chicago. The margaritas are good too;-)
Finally, Good Mexican Food. The dining area is small, but the food is great and every time we have gone there we haven't had to wait very long for a table. Service is wonderful and their guac dip is great! Handmade! Prices are good and they sometimes will give you good deals on the margaritas.
Exellente!. Walked past this place many times, but when I actually walked in I was very pleasantly surprised. The food (at least what I've had on 4 different occasions) has been some of the best mex I've ever eaten. Their specialties include shrimp burritos, exellent standard fare (enchilads, tacos, chimichangas) and some fine pork and steak dishes. The pre-meal salsa is exellent. Great service and prices to go along and you've got a winner.
