The Scene
This dive for neighborhood docs, cops--even drag queens--emits a friendship-for-all vibe. Loads of regulars chat about sports, politics and girls (natural or otherwise). Given its unassuming and unoffending nature, this classic, no-frills corner tap threatens to become a regular hang for those in search of a less-than-scenester scene.
The Draw
Open every day of the year, the eclectic Jacqueline's serves nearly 50 bottled beverages, from Smirnoff Ice to Newcastle, to a mostly shot and beer clientele. But a large liquor selection--particularly vodka--allows for the bar's highly touted martinis, as well as highballs with single-malt scotches. A dartboard and video poker game reside at the back of the long, narrow space, while pictures of folks at past festivities adorn walls. Juke tunes are as diverse as the crowd, ranging from ABBA and Cher to Cake and Hole.

Insider Tips
When to GoThese guys throw a mean Mardi Gras party each year. Other festivities have included holiday cookouts and Thanksgiving turkey spreads with all of the fixings.
The ExtrasThe bartenders, many of whom have been there for years, are known to take up collections from patrons, head to the store and return to grill up eats for everyone.

I just moved to Chicago's Lakeview area from DC. On my first trip to Chicago in winter 2004, my best friend took me to Jackie's and I loved it! Having lived in DC for so long I wasn't used to people being so outgoing, genuinely friendly and not self-absorbed. Within 5 mins we struck up a conversation with a fellow bar-goer, the bartender and a person sitting next to us. The next time I visited (many months later) the bartender remembered me, that I was from DC and what I drank! I have gone back every time I have visited until I moved there this month (July '06) and each time I always felt at home! Everyone is sooooo nice and open to a conversation about anything and all things deep or trivial. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Jacqueline's and can't wait until I can unwind after my move for some downtime at the bar! Thank you, Jackie and Chicago for making me and my roommate feel as at home as we do in our hometown!
Pros: Great, friendly locals and bartenders, convenient location
Cons: Parking, can get crowded

The only bar you'll ever need. Friendly staff, big cheap drinks, and a great jukebox are among the draws. The crowd veers from college types to lesbigay to sports fan to older neighborhood folks and just about everything in between. That person you are sitting next to may be turn out to be a judge, a transexual, an accountant, or a go - go dancer. No worries, everyone is an equal here and there is absolutely NO attitude, all succumb to the groovy Jacqueline's vibe...
