"Empire Records" meets Salvation Army at this trippy thrift depot..
The Scene
Sensory overload comes free at this huge vintage boutique--too-loud metal and punk music, flashing lights, dolls and large plastic bugs dangling from the ceiling, mannequin heads and staff who skateboard around the store. The less-frenetic downstairs displays a curious selection of vintage furniture and home decor. There's also a random assortment of more clothing--everything that doesn't fit into a distinct category.
The Goods
Browse countless racks of vintage clothing from the '50s through the '80s, much of it resurfacing in current trends. The collection of authentic items includes wide leather belts, tight black jeans, rainbow suspenders, Army fatigues, denim jackets, polyester, embroidered back pockets and itsy-bitsy "Three's Company" shorts. More thrift specialties include nostalgic T-shirts, Hawaiian shirts, old sports team tees, oversized aviator sunglasses, old shoes (everything from combat boots to Candies), corduroy blazers, tattered purses, vests, suits and furs.
