This candle company, founded in Lawrence, Kan., in the 1970s, has sold its handmade candles to retailers throughout the country ever since. Its retail shop opened in Chicago in 1996. The spacious store has a huge selection of candles and holders to suit every taste and budget. Wooden floors, soft lighting and the scent of burning incense create an inviting atmosphere.

The Goods
Scented and unscented candles range in design from classic pillar to whimsical taper. . Stick a drippy candle in a wine bottle to create a sentimental keepsake. Choose a heart-shaped floater for a romantic centerpiece. Or visit the special aromatherapy section and try a healing blend layer candle for a changing palette of scents. You'll also find an assortment of candleholders, wall sconces and lamps. Antique-looking finishes abound, but modern styles are available as well.

Love this place. I love Waxman Candles. They have great scents, good customer service, really cool holders, and they make everything on-site. Great for gifts, from funky to conservative.
