Disappointing. I am really shocked at all the great reviews from this place. I went to this salon a few times to get my hair cut and had problems every time. I have long hair which I am trying to grow layers out of. I told this to the stylist the first time I went in. She did not take the time to ask me any questions about what I like or do not like about my hair or my style. She then took off over an inch of hair and added more layers all over my head. The cut itself was also uneven....I could see it clearly when I looked in the mirror..one side was much longer than the other. After having an awful time with it, I went back again, thinking maybe I needed to be clearer. I explained in great detail the problems I was having and what I did not like about my cut. My ends were going every which way due to the short layers. She told me she really did not see anything wrong with it but maybe the layers were too short. So she only trimmed my bangs and just a bit off the bottom and charged me over 50 dollars for it. Again, it was uneven. While she is a really nice person I can't believe how awful my cuts were, even after giving it another chance. She paid no attention to what I said or even tried to fix the problems with my hair. It was so intollerable that I went to another salon the following week to get it fixed. The stylist there commented on how uneven my hair was and that the layers were also uneven and not right for my hair. She was able to fix it for the time being until all the hideousness grows out and I am much happier in the meantime...I don't look horrible anymore. I definitely won't be back!

John Lusk wins colorist of the year, 1992-2006. My sister Beth and I have been clients of John's since 1992, we have followed him throughout his career, or as long as we have been in Chicago. Our hair color is very natural looking and the health of our hair is incredible. It is only a fantastic colorist and a person with such a great personality that clients would travel from whever to see.

John does not promote womens hair cutting, however he has been cutting my hair for the past year and I have never received so many compliments.

For the best color, see John Lusk!. John has been doing my color for over ten years and he is terrific! He really listens, offers suggestions, executes flawlessly and makes each experience relaxing and fun. When my daughter moved here several years ago, she immediately became another delighted, loyal client. Without any hesitation, we have both recommended John to many of our friends. The quality and professionalism of his service make all of us go back again and again!

Best Haircut for Men - go to Kristy!. My boyfriend went to Kristy for a haircut last week- wow! She is amazing. I would highly recommend any guy who wants a great look to go to Kristy - she rocks.

best haircut. I got the best haircut of my life from Ellen over the weekend. I traveled 100+ miles to have her cut my hair, it was well worth the trip. I have very full, think hair and she layered it to perfection. I feel like a new woman!! Her new studio is beautiful. What a great place.

Wowza. I got a wonderful facial from Katie. Not only does she make you comfortable as you have arrived but she is a warm, gentle, calm host to her salon. I didn't feel rushed nor excited when I was looking at the salon when I first walked in. I was able to get a feel for the salon's envirement, it looks so sheek inside! I was able to relax, take it all in. When it came time to talk about my facial Katie showed me what I could do to make my skin feel better.

I have had many facials, but I will say that my facial at Studio Within with Katie was the best facial I have ever recieved!

This is what a salon should be like!. I found Studio Within from CitySearch. I have never been happier with a salon and with my hair. Ellen cut and toned down my dried out and fried out highlights. Now I have this beautiful, shiny and surprisingly healthy-looking hair. My hair looks urban chic instead of California surfer girl. I guess every employee has their own room, and I felt like I had Ellen's undivided attention (much better than being in front of a storefront window with color on my head). Everyone at this salon seems to be so happy and friendly, and when I walked in, like 3 people said hi to me. I'm used to paying LA prices, so Studion Within was a welcomed change. I will definitely go back, and my 2 roomates have already been in to see Ellen, and they loved it too. Thumbs way up!

John Lusk - Colorist. John Lusk is an outstanding colorist at Studio Within. I have been going to John for about 7 years. John has taken care of my color with thoughtful skill and attention to my desires. He doesn't impose his views but does give honest feedback and pays a lot of attention to detail. He is both creative and pragmatic - which is rare in his field. He is easy to work with and flexible about scheduling. I trust his judgement and will happily continue using his excellent services.

GIVE ME A HEAD WITH HAIR.............. I am loosing my hair, and yes, because of John, I can embrace this part of my life. John eased me into going shorter and cleaner with my style and despite my concerns HE WAS RIGHT!!!!!!!

My hair style has never suited me so well. Even if you are lucky with a full head of hair proceed directly to JOHN!!!! He'll give you the best cut, the best laugh and best hair wash you've ever had!!!
