Best Sushi in Chicago. 7 of my friend and I went to the restarurant after a recommendation. We all had an excellent experience. The sushi was the best we have had in along time and we loved Roberto's specials. The service was excellent. The waitress was friendly and took time to explain and suggest some great dishes on the menu. My husband and I are definitely going to make this our preferred sushi restaurant.
beware of imitation sushi. this is not japanese-owned, fish isn't fresh either. last time my husband and I went, the fish was so terrible we couldn't even finish our dish (and we ALWAYS clean up our plates)
Unwelcoming, decent sushi, plentiful for the price you are paying. I totally agree with g1228, you do get stared when they don't think you have enough money to pay for the food. I thought i was the only one who had the problem. A friend recommends me that place saying that they have really good food and everything so I decided to bring someone along to try that place out. The service wasn't bad, they do come by to check up on us to see if we need anything pretty often. The only problem is that they come by too often and I get the impression that they do not want us to be hanging around after we finish eating. After they bring the check to us, they came by two more time to see if we had paid or not. In the back, I can see that they are staring at our table. They even turned off the music. After I felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable in the restaurant, I decided to leave. Overall, I would say that the Sushi is decent, they do give you a lot of food for the price you are paying. Not the best sushi I ate but better than most places. Poor service, you will get stared down once you are finished with your food.
Worst experience ever in a restaurant!. I've eaten at Midori at least more than 10x fives over the last 5 yrs. and like the food and it is convenient since I live a few blocks away. I really am dumb to keep going back but everytime I walked in I get stare at by the servers because I don't look like I can afford it since I live in the area and me and my children love Sushi we kept going back when I don't feel like driving. I mainly go there for the food and not the service and the crew. Last night was just unacceptable. First we walked in and there was six of us 3 of my children,my sister and our family friend both are first time at the restaurant. Since there bar area were full the host was put us in one of those rooms they have yet the owner or another server wasn't really happy about it the impression I got was that she would have rather have us wait for a table by the bar rather than be in the empty room. We were happy with the food but yet our soup was taking too long that we had our appetizer and our main course but yet no soup and were getting ready to leave thinking that they forgot about our soup and asked for our check and they told us the our soup is getting prepared for us and we asked if we can cancel it since it took so long and they said no and we asked to have it to go. But when I left to use the ladies room while in their I heard a scream and I wondered what it was. I went back to the room and my sister told me that it was the owner or Manager just screamed at my kids for laughing and playing around didn't even bother to spoke to anyone right of the bat screaming at the children. So that action made us decide to just leave right away and asked to cancel the soup and would like to leave and the Manager came out of nowhere and start arguing and saying really awful things to us in front of the customers in the restaurant and told us to leave and never go back. WE wil never ever go back there again and I am sure that the friends I brouhght in there before won't either.
Great food and friendly service every time!!. I have been going to Midori for 12 years now and continue to go back no matter how far from the hood I move. Asian or not ( as commented by other person) Roberto is a skilled sushi chef obviously taught by the best. Their food is fresh and plentiful and the service is outstanding.
I have gone to many Japanese places and this is the best.
Their Roberto Special is a dream.
Good place. Small restaurant, friendly service with good food. I go back there often. Its worth the trip. Recommended.
Sushi Korean style. We have had better sushi before. Their sushi chef is definitely not japanese and not even from Asia!
