Home cooked feeling to sooth the fast food blues
by chicagoeventplanner at Citysearch
This tasty hidden gem is a must eat place. Not fancy - just really cozy and casual. But the food is flavorful, fresh, and like eating at a ethnic home kitchen. I love the Moroccan eggplant. Cafe ole is better than starbucks! GREAT VEGITARIAN spot. Features a home made soup EVERYDAY. Family owned and run. Super loving welcome to all who dine. Call first as they observe holidays and are closed 1 day a week. Always have seating never had to wait!! Oh and SUPER CHEAP PRICES!!!!
- Pros: delish
- Cons: NONE
Great MidEastern and Jewish Food
by efisher204 at Citysearch
This restaurant is a small storefront on Devon. I have eaten here approximately 6 or 7 times and will keep coming back. The atmosphere is very informal with a home style feel. Various Jewish ornaments and symbols adorn the walls (shofars, menorahs, flags, etc). The food is outstanding-they always have excellent homemade soups-try the beef barley or dishes such as stuffed cabbage, morrocan rice, or pita based dishes (the pita bread comes from a local bakery and is excellent. The service is always good and parking is fairly easy. If there is a downside, it is that they do not take credit cards.
- Pros: Great food, cheap prices
- Cons: Credit cards not accepted
