“the best neighborhood restaurant in town”
“Best food, Best service”
“Unfortunately, the chow at this overrated, overpriced dump didn't get the trick done.”
We go to Myron and Phils for Sami Scott. We have eaten at M/P a few times and always enjoyed the food and ambiance. We go for the music! Sami Scott is our favorite. We have not been into see Sami play in months because we moved away. We went to Redhead last week and left after an hour saying we are going back to Myron and Phil's. I have taken friends and out of town guests to this bar and have had wonderful evenings there. We are headed back for the great music, fun bar group, no city centre hassle and a real piano bar experience.
Time for you to step down..
Where do I start...........how about here: I'm a long time diner at Myron and Phil and I must say that the quality of the meals has gone way down hill, and I don't foresee it getting better any time soon. I ordered a bone in Rib-eye on my last visit and was served 1 big piece of fat, ($44.95!) cold mashed potato and a very plain dinner salad which consisted of brown lettuce and a very soggy tomato! My friend whom accompanied me, ordered the scrod which smelled awful and was poorly dressed for presentation, a messy bowl of creamed spinach, and a very old and wet order of cole slaw. At Myron's you've got high quality pricing with diner quality of food.
However the service staff was very good. Timely efficient courteous service and a very pleasant attitude is what I was greeted with. This is why I was so disappointed when I seen the owner (Mark) yelling at one of his servers right in the middle of the restaurant, this was not professional at all! I must say, I was embarrassed, and felt very bad for the server.
I've been frequenting Myron and Phil for many many years since Myron himself owned it and I must say, their time has come. I'm sorry to say that after so many years of business from me, I will no longer visit them, nor will I recommend them to friends any longer. I'm part of a large group of people whom feel the same way. They had a nice run. It's been fun. After 38 years of business I think its time they should step down. My last visit to Myron's has shown a considerable drop in clientele, and bar staff changes anyway. It looks like your scared. Close the doors now and save face before there's no face to save.
Sorry Mark
Quality.
This restaurant has been a favorite in our family for 40 years! Whenever something special has happened in our family's lives, we celebrate at Myron and Phil's.
The service is so personable and efficient, the food is delicious----chopped liver on a matza cracker:the best, ambience reminds me of real Chicago. Thanks for the memories!
Bad experience, Grossly overrated and overpriced. I recently dined at this so called high end establishment with a childhood friend who I sought to impress while he was visiting. Unfortunately, the chow at this overrated, overpriced dump didn't get the trick done. I ordered the Walleyed Pike. I was served what I believe was Orange Roughy and poorly prepared at that. My guest ordered the prime rib. While it was appetizing, the bone in portion consisted of an excessive amount of fat. Next time I will stick to Gibson's. This place was a disapointment.
Melt in Your Mouth Food.
The food was EXCELLENT, the atmosphere was nice.
The service was great!
I highly recommend this restaurant for those who want a Special Treat. The price was resonable for the quailty of the food.
Best London Broil. My mother and I eat at Myron & Phil about twice a month. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Truly the best London Broil I've ever had. My only disappointment was when they took the London Broil off the menue as a regular item. The Chicken Teriyaki is also outstanding. Mark, the owner, makes sure everyone is happy. I highly recomend Myron & Phil's
The best Skirt Sreak ever, and the Shrimp De Jongh is to die for.
My father first brought me here many years ago, as I have brought my son as well. Whenever there is a special occasion; it's Myron & Phils'! I found the atmosphere charming enough to propose to my wife there four years ago. No matter what you order from the menu, you are guaranteed a delectable feast, from the chopped liver to dessert.
I took my wife there last year for valentines day dinner, and they went above and beyond.
With my reservation I had ordered a single rose to be delivered to the table (a real nice touch, guys). what I hadn't expected was the presentation the waiter had prepared. My wife was speechless, with tears of joy. I too was left a little weepy, and I had arranged for this.
One can find good food most anywhere (although hard pressed to find better), but it is also the people who make a restaurant. For atmosphere, food quality, and staff; five stars is not enough. It remains my favorite, and for good reason.
Too Much Hype.
Summary: I'm not sure what all the other reviews were talking about. We had a very below average experience. I was amazed at the prices. We live in downtown Chicago, so we are use to the city prices, but this was insane. I wouldn't have minded, but the food was so average.
Atmosphere: Decent ambiance. The bathroom smelled like a porta poty and i had to trudge through an inch of some kind of liquid to get through the bathroom. I'd rather not guess what liquid I was standing in.
Service: The gentleman on the phone was very nice, our Hostess was very nice, then we met our Server. Maybe it was because we were a party of 6, but she didn't seem to care too much since she already had her 18 gratuity included.
Food: A la carte? With those prices? WOW! The sharable sides were nice, but $8 for a bowl of creamed spinach that looks/tastes like it just came out of a can? Asparagus that were just microwaved? It just kept getting worse. Best steak in Chicago? Have you ever been to Chicago?
We wanted to try a new place, and we regret it. We will definitely NOT return.
best steak in the city!!! love the claims on the half shell too. Service is excelltne nice comfortable atmosphere and. Great steak! Nice atmosphere have nice atmosphere. Wait staff very friendly and knowledges able and pleasant.
Great food, drinks and service. Myron & Phil's is not a restaurant...it is an institution that one must attend on a regular basis. Steaks, seafood, salads, great drinks and a nice winelist make for an enjoyable evening. Comfortable bar for meeting before and after dinner. They now have an outside patio area as well. This place will make you feel welcome and you will enjoy your meal.
