Chicago >Nicole G Lawson Law Offices
“Nicole was very nice when I initally met her and I felt comfortable giving her my business.”
I first started using Nicole G Lawson has my real estate attorney five years ago. I was in a bad situation where a real estate transaction went south and the seller's attorney was refusing to refund my earnest money. A friend recommend Nicole G Lawson's Law Office to me. I explained the situation to her and she assured me that she would take care of it. Two days later I received a check via FedEx from the seller's attorney. I don't know what she told him, but I'm grateful for what she did.
I am still her client and would highly recommend her. I don't understand some of these comments on this site.
Need an Attorney? Keep looking. I saw Nicole Lawson representing someone in court and thought she might be a real fighter. After hiring her I found her to be incredibly incompetent and wonders how she has kept her license. Mistake, after mistake, afer mistake. This woman is taking advantage of people who are down on their luck by taking their money and not vigourously representing them. I have not decided whether or not I am going to pursue legal action against Ms. Lawson for her lack luster representation of me, but I would suggest that you keep looking for another attorney.
Compassionate and Informative. I went in to see Nicole just before the holidays. I was also referred to her so I felt comfortable. I wanted to file a bankruptcy and she advised me against it. She actually told me that I was the boss but she thought it was in best interest to tighten up my belt and pay my creditors because I had a small amount of debt. She helped me work on a payment plan to have all my debt paid down in a year and still kept my good credit rating. I didn't really want to file for bankruptcy but I was overwhelmed and thought it was my only way out but when she told me that I could actually afford to pay my bills and showed my how I was like ok I will refer this woman to everybody I know. Now I don't know her as a real estate person but the person is correct she is nice but all of that not knowing what she was doing seems like a different person that I met and talked to a couple of times over the phone. I say give her a try because she took care of me and did not try to force a bankruptcy down my throat and my girlfriend who referred her to me praised her. Now with all that being said she told me to pay down the debt beginning the new year (January) and I haven't started yet but that's my fault not hers. If I decide I can't pay it and I definitely want to file bankruptcy Nicole will be the first person I call.
Seems there is a mix of reviews here! But here's my experience. I contact Nicole this past year maybe Dec to handle a real estate contract for me because I was purchashing a property. I wanted to make sure everything was in order as it should be. Nicole was very nice when I initally met her and I felt comfortable giving her my business. But as time went on that all changed. She basically screwed up my whole deal by mishandling the paperwork. Things she should have caught she didn't -- I did. The repeated revisions to my contract because of her mistakes caused a delay in my closing the deal. Eventually, I lost all faith in her and sought out another attorney for help. When I tried to address my concerns with Nicole she became defensive.
My opinion is that people LOOK ELSEWHERE for legal help or if you decide to use Nicole's services then PROCEED WITH CAUTION. Maybe if even a second chance Nicole will do better?
Class Act. Attorney Lawson saved my life. I am a bit confused with the previous posts, but rather than dispute them, I would like to share my experiences. I came to Attorney Lawson confused, broken and feeling as if I had no options. All of my life I prided myself with being independent and making very good financial decisions. I had perfect credit and was on my way to fulfilling my dreams. Well, a bad marriage and even worse divorce left me burdened with a lot of grief and debt. Everything I worked hard for was going down the tubes. I came to Attorney Lawson and she gave me hope. She explained my options and was with me every step of the way. She knew I was scared and had gone through a lot so she handled everything and took the pressure off of me. She was also available to answer all of my questions and to give me updates and let me know what to expect. I never thought I would have to file bankruptcy but Attorney Lawson gave me hope and helped me to build up my credit again. Now 2 years later, I am better off then before and living an incredible life. Attorney Lawson is very professional, knowledgeable, personable and a class act. I am sorry some of the others felt that way, but I would recommend Attorney Lawson to anyone who needs help in her areas of expertise. She gave me a 2nd chance.
At own risk. I might not be as harsh as the very first rating or as praising as the second. My experience was that Nicole was not all that great. Her hours are riged. She was late several times to our appointments and the advice she gave was no more helpful than what I already knew from reading. Plus I have to agree she did seem to be forgetful or disorganized. But to be fair she might be a great atty to someone else but that doesn't make my experience invalid. Plus her office assistant was like a dead sack of rocks with no personality. Overall, not very professional and low class. The previous commentor might have gotten better service because she was referred by someone Nicole thought was important who knows. Either way I don't recoomend using Nicole.
This cant be true.... I can't believe what I just read. This cannot be the same Attorney Lawson. Attorney Nicole Lawson cares for her clients. She is very informative and very intelligent. She was highly recommended to me and after my consultation I can see why. She is helping me save my home and assisting me in getting my life back together. She has many years of experience and I cannot believe a women who has a Who's Who's award, could make the mistake that was mentioned in the above comments. I came into her office looking for hope and her kind face and great big smile comforted me. I don't know why the above person had such a bad experience but this could not be the same attorney I have been with for last three months.
Nicole Lawson is a Bad Attorney.
I used Nicole Lawson's services and found her to be unintelligent and rude. She was supposed to assist me with a Chapter 7 and be capable of providing me with legal guidance.
Whenever I asked her specific questions about a matter she always told me to go ask my creditor (of all people). She made TONS of mistakes and did not apologize or even acknowledge them. For example, she was supposed to notify my employer that I had filed a Chapter 7 to prevent a wage garnish. Nicole did not do this in a timely manner and as a result my wages were garnished for 2 months. In my BK I decided to give up a property 2nd property and keep the primary. In the process Nicole confused which home I wanted to keep and I almost lost my primary residence. Worst of all when I called her to let her know I was receiving notices of foreclosure for the wrong property she kept telling to work it out with the lender. This mess dragged on for over 6 months. With the 2nd property I decided to give up I asked Nicole what the process was like or just what to expect. All Nicole said is once you give it up you don't have to worry about anymore. However, that wasn't 100% true. The foreclosure process on the 2nd property I gave up took 1 year to be finalized. During that time I kept the lender pursued me to insure the property despite the fact I gave it up in the BK and no longer lived in the property. When I contacted Nicole and I asked her about this she told me things like "it is illogical for me to know how long it will take the lender to take the property" and "call them and ask them about the insurance". I learned through others that the process would take about year and during that time I did have some liability because technically I still owed the property. The problem was no company would insure the property for more than 3 months because I didn't live there.
Afterwards Nicole sent me a flyer soliciting me to contact her if I needed legal help. NEVER!
