Editorial Review for A New Leaf – by Jennifer Olvera
The Scene
Greeted with fresh-cut flowers, garden enthusiasts and soon-to-be hostesses seek out arrangements and accents that set a special occasion-appropriate mood. The loft-like interior gives way to a lower level filled with even more decorative goodies, and there's a peaceful garden and coach house in back filled with Americana collectibles and other treats, both modern and traditional.
The Goods
Perfect plant containers, scentless candles in all colors and tabletop necessities, such as glassware, nestle among far-out totem poles, bamboo poles, yucca canes and loads of ribbon for finishing touches. Cute votive holders, country-inspired containers and Lazy Susans cater to a wide range of Martha-types, while succulents, vintage plant varieties and tropical foliage make jungles out of urban spaces.

The staff at New Leaf are very nice and professional. I do not live in Chicago, but send flowers to friends there often and this florist has always done a truly wonderful job. There hi style european designs are exquisite and well received. I know when I call that I am going to be sending an elegant and unique gift of flowers.

I used to go to LaSalle Flowers - but the women there were rude over the phone. I realize that sometimes customers don't know what they want, and don't know the names or species of flowers; however, that doesn't mean rudeness and curtness should come in. That's why I signed up to say praise for a New Leaf. They are kind, courteous and helpful - everytime - all the time. Even with day-of deadline pressure. They can be given just colors and the emotion you want to convey - and they create the most beautiful, tasteful and design-forward arrangements - they are truly the best I've encountered in Chicago. Plus the arrnagements last a long long time when taken care of. Please support this local company - it's well worth it.
