“The decor is not the best, but they tried.”
“They have some unique rolls that are very tasty.”
“And the service is great.”
“Their sushi is not terrible and the price is fine, but if you are an intermidate to advanced sushi eater don't waste your time.”

Being just down the street from this place helps, but I loove me some sushi x for carry-out or dining in. Reasonably priced, fresh and always something funky playing on the wall, Sushi X has been my go-to since they opened. Hidden gems are the honey roll, ginger salad, wasabi mashed potatoes, and the new rice bowls.

You have to be a real local to go to Sushi X. There's no door, it's in the middle of nowhere and it's really sexy and good.

A gem of a BYO sushi joint! If roll prices seem high, consider the fact that one "giant roll" (try the White Dragon) means 10 JUMBO pieces. Great for takeout!
Love this place. Rolls were packed fatter than most, less rice, been to location 2 times, delivery many many times. Always consistent fresh fast!
sushi scam. SUSHI SCAM!!! no prices on the menu. service is awful!! and very very slow!! its as if the workers their do not care to provide the customers with even the basics. chop sticks soy sauce.. are you kidding me should never have to ask for these things after the sushi has hit the table. oh and the half price rolls is only on sunday and monday now, but i would not waste your time the prices even at half price are only a dollar off normal prices at other places like coast which is far and way better hands down go to Coast!!! sushi x is dark you cant see the food the sushi bar is hidden... as long as it takes to get the rolls at sushi x i could swear i saw them bring jewel bags full of sushi and reselling it. i thought their sushi tasted like i had it before. save your self the trouble and price and cut out the middle man go straight to jewel
The best rolls in the city. Big rolls packed in a small venue - this place has a creative way of looking a sushi. Their combination of flavors have a way of satisfying a craving that you never knew you had. Try the pollo loco, godzilla, spicy tako and honey roll - all comfort food with awesome taste. You'll have to come back a few times to try all your new favorites. If you're not in the mood for sushi try the potroast served with wasabi mashed potatoes - its the best!
Too loud, but great prices. The food was wonderful. I was skeptical of the honey roll because of the thought of honey and tuna. It was my favorite. My problem was the noise level. It is not a good place to go if you are trying to have an indepth conversation.
Best Sushi in town. Great Price, extremely cool staff. Wait is not long. The Godzilla roll is addictive. This place was my first ever sushi experience and since then has not been the only one. I eat sushi in every city and every country I visit. This is by far the best!! thanks for introducing me to sushi!!!
Someone has been stuffing the Sushi X ballot box!. Obviously the people who own sushi X are giving their employees incentives to post great reviews. I am born and raised in Chicago and hands' down this place does not belong in the top ten or twenty for that matter. Their sushi is not terrible and the price is fine, but if you are an intermidate to advanced sushi eater don't waste your time. The rolls are rolled without care and almost seem like they are pre-rolled earlier that night. I ordered the spicy tuna roll from here on three diferent occasions and every time it was ovesaturated with mayonaise and the ends of the roll were hardly worth eating. If all you eat is tuna, salmon and california roll this place falls just below the average line. From a true chicago sushi lover based on quality only on recommend Meiji, Sushi Wabi or Starfish. btw, my food tastes are much more advanced then my spelling :-)
A hidden sushi jewel.
On the outside, Sushi X looks like it's a club. Long waits, dark interior, sometimes blaring music....But this place has the best sushi! I've been hearing about this place for a while from a friend of mine saying the decor is a little off the norm but the sushi is fabulous.
I recommend the Honey Roll and the Red Dragon. The pieces just melt in your mouth in a huge burst of flavor. I even liked their non sushi entrees like the Creamy Ginger Salad. AND best of all, it's BYOB.
If you love sushi...this is definitely a place you should try out.
Be prepared though, since it's gaining popularity, waiting for a table can take more than an hour.
Love It!!. Best sushi in the city!!! The atmosphere is inviting and relaxing. The decor is not the best, but they tried.
Great take out- very yummy. I am not a big fan of take out sushi but this place rocks. Try the spicy tuna- if you like spicy it will knock your sox off!
