“I've tasted several wedding/birthday cakes from Vanille, and while absolutely beautiful, the taste was tremendously disappointing (and they were SUPER expensive)”
“It's hard to find a real croissant in this town or authentic French macarons, so Vanille is an oasis in a wasteland of silly cupcakes.”

My favorite spot for macarons, Vanille also has a location in the French Market.
Simply the Best. V anille did the most perfect cake for my daughters Baptism/Baby Naming. The quality and taste were amazing and they made adorable building blocks.
Love! Takes Me Back to Paris!. I am obsessed with French style macaroons, esp. pistachio. My search to find ones as good as those I've eaten in Paris ended with Vanille. I almost cried at how good they were. Also try the red velvet macaroons-delish! The chocolate croissants are also ridiculous-in a good good way. Amazing! My complaint: the girl who works weekends-rude, unfriendly, and lazy. I have been in many times and she is always the same. It's such a shame that this place would have this girl working-it kind of ruins the experience, to be honest-my boyfriend won't even go in on weekends anymore because of her attitude. Go on a weekday-the owners are usually there and are much more helpful and friendly. I would have for sure given this place 5 stars, but that girl brings them down to a 4.
Authentic and Absolutely Gorgeous.
Went for the first time on Saturday. It was an absolute treat as I have been looking for an authentic French style bakery since we moved here four years ago from Eurpoe. We took the patisseries home, and they were as good as those we have had the pleasure of eating in Paris. The ingredients were fresh, the taste was authetic and the atmosphere very Parisian. My only qualm was the price. But then again, you pay for what you get.
I had tried the other places like Rolfs and Bittersweet (very over rated) the but they just do not compare.
the real deal!. It's hard to find a real croissant in this town or authentic French macarons, so Vanille is an oasis in a wasteland of silly cupcakes. Stick with the French pastries/entremet and avoid the special occasion cakes. I've tasted several wedding/birthday cakes from Vanille, and while absolutely beautiful, the taste was tremendously disappointing (and they were SUPER expensive)
Authentic French bakery whips up pastries, handmade chocolates and custom-made cakes..
In Short
Husband-and-wife pastry chefs Dmitri and Keli Fayard (he's French, she's a Chicago native) team up at this warm, copper-colored pastry shop and cafe, which draws a regular crowd of sweet tooths and homesick French folks. They're here for fresh-baked croissants and handmade confections like nougats, chocolate bars and mini-tarts. The shop does big business in custom-made cakes--from traditional to more off-the-wall creations, all made with fresh cream filling and no preservatives.
Devine Croissants!. I think that I may have found the best croissant around. . . Lightly sweet with real butter flavor, delicately flaky layers and perfectly caremelized to a deep brown. YUM!
