I hired Richard after several years of his urging me to retain him. He seems friendly, attentive and smart when you first meet him. He convincingly represented his knowledge in this matter as special and unique, when in fact it turned out to be incomplete. He failed to follow my simple instructions with regard to an important element of the case, and then denied it despite me having proof of delivery of those instructions in writing. He lost the case and despite his assurances that we would "work things out" if he lost, he billed me an enormous fee, several times my net worth, when in fact the winning side had a total bill less than half mine. He then took me to court over the bill and also told me I was blackmailing him and threatened legal action against me when I offered to settle for about half his billed fee, the same fee the winning side was billed. Needless to say, this has been among the worst professional experiences in my career, and I've been around. Avoid this attorney at all costs.

Pros: His legal assistant is great and should find another job while he's young.

Cons: Over confident, over charges, under performs

I am myself a litigation attorney and hired Mr. Wilson for a personal matter. I was extremely unhappy with the service because although I prepared almost all of the documents and pleadings for him, he charged me as if I did not already prepare the documents and drafts for him. Furthermore, he was not aggressive at all with the case and we amost missed a deadline. I had to go to his offfice and insist he file some documents/papers and so he scurrlily prepared a pleading on the day of the deadline and I literally had to take a cab myself from his office and run into the daley center to file it. He continually put pressure on me to settle the case, when I told him from day one I wanted to go to trial and needed him to be aggressive. He insisted I come to his office for a meeting to again try to convince me to settle the case (which I always said was out of the question), -and charged me for it. His law clerk and myself did most of the work. I don't know how many trials he has had, but for whatever reason, he did not want to go to trial. He charges way too much for the service he provides. Maybe I caught him at a busy time, but still no excuse. Highly NOT recommended. I retained a different attorney to finish the case.

Pros: He seems to know the process

Cons: He'll bill you big, but not an aggressive attorney
