Editorial Review for H & M – by Minya Quirk

The Scene
Expect a minimalist interior, artfully arranged merchandise and chic mannequins that may make you feel as if you're about to spend big bucks. But the prices are indeed low--don't be surprised to find yourself squealing "only $25?!" not just once, but over and over again.

The Goods
Some shoppers have been seen hauling armfuls of the same item up to the register. And why not, with prices like these? Knockoff fans who usually wait for the fashion trickledown to reach old standbys like Contempo Casuals and Joyce Leslie will be overjoyed to find affordable treasures in such a spiffy environment, and chic gals looking for cheap thrills won't be disappointed either.

H&M is good for cheap, interesting clothes. The quality isn't amazing - you won't find any impeccably cut cashmere here, however it's great for whatever is so trendy that you just realized you had to have it five minutes ago. Which is why I keep attempting go back, despite the fact that the weekend is an absolute MOB scene - I'm usually overwhelmed by what appears to be a mass exodus of teenage groupies from some angst-ridden-but -my-mom-still-has-to-drive- me-home event. So go, but avoid it on the weekends, unless you enjoy feeling like you got stuck in a fifteen year old's birthday shopping trip with 200 of her closest friends.

Pros: inexpensive trendy clothes

Cons: zillions of people, non-existent service, quality is about what you'd expect for cheap clothes

The location is great and exciting, but on a weekend the atmosphere is out of control. It's usually packed with tweens, and beware of long lines for the dressing rooms. The prices are great, though, and while quality may not be the best, you can definitely find some layering pieces. The accessories are awesome! But the store is packed with clothes, so if you don't like picking through piles and racks, you may not like this!

Pros: Good variety, Exciting location, Inexpensive

Cons: , Inattentive Employees, Messy
