AVOID ANYTIME. The service was horrible, the food was barely edible at best. For a bar that claims to have a good menu it fails. The greasy fish(they called it fish) was awful! The steak sandwich wasn't steak, but some beef type material they passed off as a steak. So then plan on wasting your money and visiting your doctor after attempt to eat it. Bon Appetite..
Horrible staff. Avoid this place..
Skip Finn McCool's if you're looking for a bar in Chicago.
The service is terrible. Waitresses and bartenders will walk right past you, that's if they come at all. The free wing buffet on Friday comes with a price. Your dignity. Some African-American customers are warned by the large bouncers that they must buy alcohol or pay for wings, even though I've never seen anyone there eat w/out at least buying a beer. Non-ethnic customers are never issued this caveat. I've also seen African-American customers harassed by waitstaff even though they are eating and enjoying beverages peacefullly. Their response to their unequal level of service is "You can go somewhere else if you don't like it." That quote came from Michael, the manager on duty. Even though I am white, this behavior disgusted me. When I asked the bouncer why he approached the couple at the next table so rudely, he responded "I'm just doing my job." Avoid this place.
My favorite place to watch football!. This is a great place to watch football, college or NFL. Every Saturday and Sunday, they have 25 cent wings, and $2 burgers. They have cheap Bloody Marys and Screwdrivers on Saturdays, and a Bloody Mary bar (also cheap) on Sundays. They also have cheap domestic drafts one of those days, and cheap Miller Light the other. There are a ton of TVs showing multiple games, and the staff is happy to change the channel to get a specific game on near your table. There's also a fireplace in the winter.
Great football bar. Go on Saturdays or Sundays and enjoy their great food specials. We go almost every weekend and stay almost the whole day.
Great local spot. Good food, cheap beer, great specials, I recommend this place at any time other than weekend nights. When it's packed, it's no fun, but when it's empty and relaxed it's nice to sit in front of the fire and eat a nice spicy chicken wrap and enjoy a $2 beer ... some of the cheapest in the city. Don't expect too much (it's just a casual spot to grab a bite) and you won't be disappointed.
College-type nightlife staple on Division Street..
The Scene
At this bar upstairs from Finn McCool's, expect a critical mass of T.G.I.F.-ers at the start of the weekend, and all the sophomoric antics that often implies; other times it's practically relaxed. College sports paraphernalia--photos, pennants, a marching-band drum--adorn the walls and ceiling. Fraternity paddles from days of hazing long past complete the picture, and the dark-stained woodwork and elaborate bar add an upscale accent.
The Bar
The Loft goes out of its way to foster the illusion that it's a down-home neighborhood fixture rather than part of a chain; suspending disbelief can have its rewards: A good variety of brews--domestic and import, macro and micro--await on tap and in bottles. The menu shows more than a flicker of ingenuity, going beyond the usual burgers-with-your-choice-of toppings (of which this spot does have plenty) to also include wraps, grinders and internationally flavored appetizers.
It was ok...... I've actually been here a few times. It's not a very happening place, but great little hangout to drink and hang with friends. Waitress staff was nice and came around often. Dance floor is a bit small.
Another lame "irish pub". Another run of the mill "irish pub" for the masses who don't know any better. Just looking at the other review sums this place up. When I think of Irish pubs, baby back ribs, pitchers of Miller Lite and sports are certainly not the first things that come to mind. Just another Division St. fratboy bar.
Great Winter Place. I live (on weekends) about 2 blocks from the front door - great place on a Saturday afternoon for some baby back ribs, a pitcher of Lite and about whatever sports event you want to watch on TV!
ehh. it was ok. :). was talked into going. the lower level is decent. although the upper is crowded and hot/sweaty enough, so make sure you lit before you go up if you want to enjoy yourself. pretty good drink service, everywhere you turn there is someone to get you another.
