Local favorite serves up stuffed and thin-crust pizzas as well as a variety of Italian favorites.. In Short
Red-and-white tablecloths, family-sized tables and friendly staff contribute to the convivial atmosphere for those dining in, but this popular local restaurant chain is a favorite for takeout, too. Thin-crust pizzas are cut in squares, heavy on mozzarella, easy on sauce. Stuffed pies are flaky-crusted with ingredients that include fresh pineapple, shrimp and classic pepperoni, onion, green pepper and the like. Other popular plates include sandwiches (Italian beef, sausage, meatball), salads and a plethora of pasta dishes.

Good Pizza. Try the fried mushrooms. The mushrooms were fresh and juicy with crunchy breading. We had the pepperoni and sausage deep dish pizza. It was loaded and quite good. We got the small (2 of us) but could not finish. Like all deep dish pizzas, the portions are huge. We didn't realize that they had personal sized ones until we glanced over at our neighboring table. Cooking time was 20-30 minutes. The waitress was friendly and helpful.

Don't bother visiting!. What an incredibly disappointing experience I had on a recent Friday night visit to this restaurant! Because this was my first visit to Chicago, I was anxious to sample a little of the world-famous Chicago pizza; sadly Giardano's was a simply horrible experience!! We had a very, very, very long wait in an incredibly packed lobby. When we called ahead and placed our name on a waiting list, we were told there was a 45 minute wait. The wait inside their lobby ended up being an additional forty minutes!!! The bartender was grumpy and overworked but even this was no excuse for his unsanitary practices of wiping sweat from his forehead and then placing olives into drinks. YUCK!! The food was only so-so and definitely not worth the price. The manager was non-existant when it came time to honor his promise of a round of drinks for our entire party because of our long wait. He instead elected to have his wait staff tell us that he was deeply involved in taking inventory. Inventory??? On a Friday night in a bustling restaurant??? Hard to believe that inventory was more important than his customers...but perhaps this explains why this restaurant is as bad as it is.

The worst service I have ever had - you thought NY was bad.... The service was bad - the bartender told one of our party that she had nerve ordering a lemon drop on a friday night, he should have just said I don;t know how to make them because he really did not....and only put vodka and cranberry in the cosmo's...I ordered a Gray Goose cape cod and it was lighter in color (red)than the cosmos...We were told a 20 minute wait it was longer - that was not even the issue...the bartender was rude and kept wiping the sweat off his brow and then picking up olives and cherries to put into drinks with out washing - it was quite disgusting...the manager came out and told us he would take care of us and buy a round of drinks...when the bill came he hid from us and sent the waitress and his assistant manage out to talk - he was first in a management meeting then he was doing inventory - they could not get their stories straight - he only took off one drink and was not interested in facing us again - we were all women and were having fun...It was disappointing that inventory is more important than customer service.....This was not a friendly place to eat....I recommend you find a different place to eat - Walk another block to TGIFridays....

Warning, you can spend your money better elsewhere. Please take some friendly advice and avoid this chain. In particular the Prudential Plaza restuarant. Here are the reasons why. The food is very average (more on that later). The service is often obnoxious. Specifically, I once called and was placed on hold for three times for over three minutes each. Yes, I did end up elsewhere that time. We have tried it on a number of occassions because it is near where I work but most of us have agreed it is not worth the convience. The waitress one night told us that the pasta dishes were very low quality. She was honest and we appreciated it but she didn't warn us about the salads which have proven to be limp leaves with some stiff woody like vegtables. As to the famed deep dish pizza, it is often mostly a crust with cheese that is not that distinct. You can do much better at other deep dish places around town in the suburbs. This chain advertises but now you know why...they have to keep getting the tourists to come in. The flat cheese pizza is okay...but that's not why you go to a place like this. Literally save some dough and don't waste your calories here.
