“Really good food, reasonably priced, and great service.”
Nibble on small plates of sophisticated comfort food at this hotel restaurant just off the Mag Mile..
The Scene
This contemporary space boasts handsome art deco-inspired accents, a buzzing open kitchen and spacious seating at tables and booths for the businesspeople who flow in from the adjacent Courtyard Marriott. A frosted-glass partition separates the dining room from the bar, where you can sip cocktails while keeping an eye on sports via flat-screen TVs. Servers keep things flowing smoothly while making smart recommendations--no small feat, considering the tricky menu.
The Food
Viand's updated American fare gives small plates a comfort-food spin, with classy dishes that appeal to a variety of appetites. The kitchen scores points for light, moist corn fritters with truffled honey, Kobe meat loaf and a succulent grilled lobster-and-cheese sandwich. Other small plates include popcorn calamari and lamb lollipops with mint sauce. For dessert, chocolate pot de creme is heaped with berries and served with spoons dipped in chocolate for twice the sweetness.
Gotta Group Go Here. Viand is great! Picture this a group of 8 people in their mid-twenties who can't agree on what to eat & without reservations anywhere on Valentine's Day. Viand came to the rescue - the host seated us in their Private Room, and our mood went from hungry and grumpy to satisfied with the variety of food to eat and amused that you can control the music in your private room and people watch with the doors closed off to the rest of the bar scene. It's been a year and change and we're still talking about that dinner- atmosphere and food.
Hidden Gem. We had our Christmas Party there for 60 people and loved the personal touch we received from Dennis and his staff. We will be booking our next office party there. We especially loved the Martini Night Special, they had $6.50 Martinis. It just so happens that our party was on their Tuesday Martinin Special. The restaurant is a hidden Gem.
Great American Home Cooking Tapas. Off the beaten path of Michigan Avenue is a great place to have some hoom cooking american tapas, like Kobe beef meatloaf or a bucket of smoked ribs. Really good food, reasonably priced, and great service.
Defintiely a New Hot Spot.
Great martinis, really unique and creative! Plenty of attractive ladies and the menu prices are cheap. Where else can you get foie gras and buffalo wings in the same place!?
The plasma screens are awesome for watching games too. Cool concept and it gets better every day.
