They really care about you and not just taking your money. I made an appointment for full higlights after a friend of mine had hers highlighted there. It would have been my first time there. I called to let them know that I was going to be about 20 minutes late. I was told that I had to reschedule...the receptionist explained in detail to me that since I was a new client, I was scheduled time for a consultation as well as the service. The stylist would only have time to do the service in 45 minutes, and without the consultation, to talk about my hair..what I wanted, what was good for my hair etc...I would not receive the best possible service. I really appreciated that!! However, I wanted my hair done right away and went elsewhere....the results weren't so good!!!!!!! I definitely want to go there and get "the best possible service" owed to me!

Front desk Great! Amazing Cut!. The front desk was very helpful and upbeat. Conor gave me one of the best haircuts of my life. I will be back for sure! I have recommended this place to everyone!

Best Highlights in Chicago. I had my first appt with Kara @ Gordons Salon a few months ago and recently came back. I highly recommend her if you are a blonde or have ever thought about being a blonde. I can be very picky and I appreciate that she took the time to REALLY listen to what I wanted. Talented, friendly, and affordable! Cheers to great hair!

Receptionists are snobby. I love the stylists at this place, but the receptionists are very rude--I have been there two times now and they are very unwelcoming and unfriendly.

Brittany is amazing!. I've been going to Brittany for quite some time now. She has really been the best stylist I have ever had. I was a brunette when I started going there and Brittany helped transform my hair to the most beautiful, natural looking blonde with subtle highlights and low lights. She's not only amazing at coloring, but her haircuts are so creative and masterfully done. She really pays attention to detail. I asked for bangs once and left with the cutest haircut I could imagine. Brittany is also so down to earth and funny and really easy to talk to. I have referred several of my friends to her and they all say the same things. If you are looking for the best color, style, or a little bit of both, go to Brittany for a hair experience that will keep you coming back again and again.

Need some Fantastic Color ask for Melissa. Being a self proclaimed colorist with my own concoctions of dyes and my own pair of hair scissors it takes a lot for me to be professionally groomed.

But over a the years Melissa has weened me off the box dyes and bathroom chop jobs and has given my hair a new life.

She makes a point of really understanding a color and cut idea when you have something specific in mind and also makes really good suggestions when you are a little unsure or just wanna mix it up.

Her color skills are excellent, I only get compliments when I come back from a visit. Plus if you are looking for a natural looking unnatural color combination she is stellar. I have no idea what my natural color is any more actually.

Plus she tells you exactly how to care for it, which is so important for colored hair, and what products to use.

She knows her stuff whether you have think hair or thin hair. Her suggestions are not only excellent but smell yummy too.

As I keep my hair generally long, I can't really comment on short hair cuts as I usually just get a trim and maybe some layers to lighten the load. She does those well so I can only imagine that she is as diligent about a good cut as she is with color. Now my ratty scissors just cut stray threads.

As for the salon atmosphere, it was a salon, everyone I dealt with was pleasant. I don't know what to expect, because, as I said, I only came out of my bathroom because of Melissa's talents.

TONY GIVES GOOD HAIR. Hot Diggety Dog!!! I went to Tony at the suggestion of a friend and was so completely glad that I did. I think it was the first time in my 33 years on this earth that I had such a detailed consultation about what do do with my hair. He had such a calm and sweet way about him too. He was so cool about everything. Hands down, the best cut I've had in a while! :)

gordons is great. I enjoy going to this aveda salon alot, I have a super awesome stylist Jen that i see for hair and Randy for the facials and waxing. These girls are awesome and really skilled. I also have had a couple of my friends see a girl named Cj for hair and adore her. The prices are pretty normal for a wriggley salon, I also have had the front desk mess up my appt. once and they were super nice and apologetic about everything and took care of me that day.

Hair Stylist and Esthetician Can't Get Any Better!. I used to be a salon "hopper" because I never found a stylist that I absolutely loved, until I went to Jen. I've been going to her for well over a year now and she does the BEST COLOR! I have never once left without loving my color and I'm extremely picky! She is also very easy to talk to and I no longer have to dread those awkward conversations with a stylist.

As if finding the best colorist wasn't enough -- Randi does amazing eyebrows! She obviously knows exactly what she is doing....one time I cheated and trimmed my eyebrows between sessions and she called me out on it!

It is so refreshing to finally have a salon I can go to on a regular basis with two experts that I love seeing who do such a great job. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Customer service needs some work.... So my amazing girlfriend surprised me with a massage from Gordon in Lakeview for Valentine's Day. I called and made my apointment for the evening of 2/22 and showed up excited for the hour long experience to come. I was told upon arrival that there had been a mix up and the massage therapist was not there and that I needed to reschedule. I was obviously disappointed but Pam, the girl working the desk, was nice enough and offered to bump it up to an hour and a half at 50% off so I didn't put up too much of a fuss. I called back and rescheduled for this evening (3/7) hoping there wouldn't be any more problems. I showed up, received a great massage and went to the desk to thank them for everything when I was told that I needed to pay. My girlfriend had already given them her credit card info as this was a gift but they had NO RECORD OF IT so I was forced to pay for my gift myself!?! After walking out I grabbed my phone to call my girlfriend to make sure she was not charged as well and I realized I had only received an hour long massage but had been charged for an hour and a half (at 50% off because of the first screw up)!!! My obviously disappointed girlfriend called the salon and asked that my card be credited and hers charged, for only an hour rather than hour and a half, and was told only a manager could do this and that there was no manager present at the time. Wow. I'm kind of curious as to what is going to happen next! The massage was great but not worth the headache...please please learn how to take care of customers!!!

UPDATE: My girlfriend received a call from Tony apologizing for the mix up and we were not charged for the massage. I also received a call from Tony asking me to take down this review since we were not charged. Sorry, I modified the rating but I will not take down the review. That is the point of a review, to give an honest account of the experience with a business!
