Check Please got it wrong this time
by gapper at Citysearch
I live 3 blocks from restaurant. Heard about it on check please. Never heard anyone from the neighborhood going to this place. I waited 3 years before checking this place out. What a disappointment! I don't understand all the hype about this place. If your willing to spend $35 ON A SPECIAL you will recieve a larger portion. But as for their $12 specials forget it-you leave hungry. I had their shrimp bisque to start. My only comparison would have been a lobster bisque I had years ago at a place called Oceanique which I still remember as being phenominal. I was so disappointed with the flavorless and watery soup at Pier 5736. Granted the staff is friendly especially an older gentleman who works only a few days to help out. The salad is nothing to talk about. It's just lettuce, cherry tomatoes(not grape tomatoes which I would expect for these prices) and very little dressing. For the price and not a huge variety of fish I can do better at the neighborhood restaurant called Sanders. They offer daily fish specials such as orange roughy, tilapia, salmon, shrimp and perch just to mention a few priced at about $14 for a complete dinner with large portions. I should have wondered why no one I spoke to in my neighborhood had ever gone to this restaurant especially after it had been on check please. I spent over $110 on dinner for three which included one glass of wine and two cocktails no dessert or coffee. Some how this is not a bargain for me.
- Pros: walking distance from house
- Cons: variety value decor
A great place to eat!

Pier 5736 is a great choice if you want fine sea food at reasonable prices. I went there and was greeted like I was a regular, which took me by suprise! Our waiter made the evening even more enjoyable, though i forget his name, his characture was beyond words. I had the coconut fried shrip-fantastic! and the grilled escolar with sundried tomatos and olives-amazing! I very much enjoyed the food and the staff, I will surly be back soon...and so should you! ***RESURVATIONS ARE A MUST!***
- Pros: excellent food and a enjoyable staff/atmosphere
- Cons: not a lot of parking
Tasteless food
by traveler68 at Citysearch
I ordered the crab stuffed trout, and was served a tasteless open fillet with a small ball of crabmeat. not worth the price and I could have grilled better tasting fish at home. My parents didnt care for the food as well. Very bland
- Pros: small, intimate
- Cons: bland, tastless food, very expensive
