The Scene – Wood-slat blinds, faux palms and slowly twirling fans exude a South Seas vibe in this open, airy space. A lively crowd of couples fill booths and tables for dinner; after hours, the decibel-level rises as black-clad singles move across the large, open dance floor, mai tais in hand. Live drumming and Top-40 dance hits keep the party bumping into the wee hours. – – The Food – The Bamboo Room's menu gives bar food a Polynesian twist: Sublime Asian chicken wraps cradle bean sprouts, seaweed salad, grilled chicken and cucumbers; a platter of tender mini-fillet…

A work in progress

Seeing the Bamboo Room open again, great surprise.Husband & I just went there 4 the Halloween bash on Fri,Oct. 27th.Had a great time in spite of a missing cocktail waitress w/our credit card.Bartenter was apologetic & weren't charged 4 1st round of drinks & rec'd card back at the end of the night.Went 2 another bartenter who made the drinks better & serviced us well.Prices are a bit higher than they use to be,not 2 excited about that.Missing alot of tables & chairs in downstairs section which is now set up w/couches 4 reserved people buying expensive bottle service only which they also already have those booths around the dance floor 4 those people.Have only a few tables left in that section, but in desperate need of more table & chairs 4 singles or just couples who go there not needing bottle service but would like 2 sit down after dancing.Asked 4 owners/manager of club & he did come 2 table we sat at which we felt was considerate & Good PR.Have 2 come early, between 8-10pm 2 get a table & not be overcharged 4 getting into the club. Owner gave us a rarely given I'm sure, reserved card 4 our table because we've been long time Bamboo Room attenders in Lombard & Schamburg in past years w/yr passes.BUT beware of those people who ignore RESERVED signs,& sit at your table & take it over while you're gone dancing. How RUDE! If U were 1of them people, try being more considerate & think of how U would have felt if it had been done to U! Missed the restaurant but Loved the Pizza booth set up just inside the door.Good combination of crowd aging from the 21-30 hot girls & guys mostly, also some 30-40yrs & us along w/a few others between the 40-50yrs old who still like 2 dance along w/any crowd regardless of age.(by the way I don't look my age so I fit in) Love Marge who attends the bathroom downstairs, known her for years.Would have loved 2 give it 5 but needs a little more tweeking! Will try it again and see how it improves as it progresses.

ABORT! ABORT!

by rhr at Citysearch

We went to the Bamboo Room after we heard it was under new owners thinking it had to be better than the dump it was before, but we were WRONG. The cover was $10--way overpriced for the crappy house music and a sparse crowd inside. There have to be hot guys in the the suburbs somewhere but this place repels them. It's the lint brush of the suburbs. There weren't any hot chicks either, except for us. If you like 4 foot tall men and 60 year old ladies, this is the place for you. There were plenty of tables but no chairs. The newly revamped Bamboo Room is the reason none of our friends in the city will never go out in the suburbs again.

  • Pros: No lines for entry, drinks, or bathroom.
  • Cons: Everything else.

BAMBOO IS BETTER THAN EVER

by krazykellyb at Citysearch

The new owners at Bamboo have made changes that make this place great again. They did raise the drink prices (from $1 to $3 - big deal). This keeps the riff-raff out that was ruining it before. The new crowd is more attractive, wealthier, more intelligent and actually of age. I now feel safe here. I can have a great night out with the girls and not worry about drunken idiots starting fights. I heard that they are going to remodel it in the near future too. I cannot wait! How nice would it be to actually have amazing Chicago Nightlife in Schaumburg! In my opinion, if you cannot spend more than $10 on a night out - you should stay in. This is the place to go to meet quality people (that actually know the difference between there, their and they are). I have a feeling this was their plan all along - and I truly appreciate the changes. Plus, with the new DJs, I will be there a lot!!! Well done!

The Details on The Bamboo Room

What to Drink:

The specialty drink menu is extensive, from mai tais and martinis to eight flavors of potent frozen daiquiris. Try the fruity "Bikitini," with Midori, rum, Chambord and pineapple juice, or the "Amaretto Sunset" with OJ and a splash of grenadine.
