“loved the ambience.”
“After all that wait, everything except the crab cakes were luke warm and the crab cakes were hot but were virtually tasteless and all filler.”
“Coco is a great place to take friends for a drink but not a place to eat.”
“Puerto Rican food is great but there's not too many nice places to sit and eat in Chicago.”
“While there are some good martinis on the menu, do not waste your time.”

“love this place and would definately come back often.”
“Save your money people this place is too overpriced and needs to work on every aspect of the restauant !”
“love Puerto Rican food, but this was the worst I have ever tasted, and the prices were outrageous for what is offered.”
Pros: Very classy place. Nice staff.
Great drinks menu. Parking. Nice staff. Delicious appetizer. Fried plantain to die for!
Cons:
Terrible waiting time. We had a reservation @9pm and the place is soooo packed.
Food is bland. We had the lechon and chicken stuffed with cassava. Chicken is dry.
Fantastic Puerto Rican food!. I got inspired to try Puerto Rican food thanks to Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, so I googled Puerto Rican food and Coco came up in the results. Went to the restaurant and I was blown away by the food menu, drink menu, service and decor. Definitely try this place out... you won't be disappointed!
puerto rican food. the food was not good .need more spices and small portion.the waiter are great. Need a new chef or new cooking team.
WORST RESTAURANT IN THE CITY. Without a doubt, the worst dining experience of my life. We ordered food at 9pm, did not receive our apps until 10:30 and entres until after 11:00pm. While there are some good martinis on the menu, do not waste your time.
"good food, good booze and good friends.". The interior and decor is elegant along with the inviting and intimate atmosphere. The menu features the finest in latin cuisine and every entree is perfectly proportioned leaving nothing to desire. Has top-flight food & exceptional personalized service, live band on the weekends which combined had no limit in over exceeding our dining experience and capturing the true essence of Puerto Rico. Special thanks to Maritza in my Opinion ?simply the greatest waitress for her patience, eye to detail, and GENIUNE concern!! CoCo?s you take dining/service/entertainment to a new level of excellence Chicago should look up to you!!
Outstanding Food and Service. I went to Coco on Tuesday, Nov. 27th. It was by far the most outstanding Puerto Rican food I've had in years (of course, nothing compares to mother's cooking, though). Being Puerto Rican, I'm pretty picky when it comes to good PR food. This restaurant exceded my expectations by far. The food was excellent -- not overly-spiced or bland. The secret ingrediant to many PR dishes is garlic, and there's plenty in the food here, but NOT so much that you're stuck with heartburn. I can't wait to return to PR in Chicago!
IF YOU WANT CLASS ITS THE RIGHT SPOT!!!!!!!!!!!. This review is coming fom a person that dines out to a huge variety of restaurants. CoCs has a unique twist to Puerto Rican food. Humboldt park has had a bad reputation through the years . Its nice to see an estblishment of this sature in the area. I think they really deserve some credit. Its not home cooking Puerto Rican food (which might explain some of the critics reviews). Its not overly seasoned, your mouth is not ingulfed with sofrito, and there is not people hanging out in front of the restaurant(other then the customers dining in the outdoor area. Walking into CoCo's you are immediatly taken by the relaxing decor. upscale modern design gives you the comfort of eating a lovely meal with joy. I'd take any one in my family here and would even stay after dinner to enjoy thier live salsa band. Three pats on the back for giving people something good to talk about when it comes to humboldt park. I lived in the aea since I was 12years old. Now thirty and all I can say is its about time.
Terrible service ,bland food !!. I came here with a group of friends a few weeks back and was shocked at the service and food at this place !!I was with a party of about 10 people .At first the waitress came over to our table to get our drink order ( we arrived after everyone else ) i told her i needed a few minutes to decide ..she came over to my table 3 times in about 7 minutes talk about being pushy !! i know this place doesnt prolly have a dress code for employess but no bartender in a "fine dining restaurant "should wear daisy duke shorts with her "junk" hanging out !! !!I finally ordered and then once again felt rushed to order my food .We all ordered at the same time yet received our food at differenet intervals ?!!Working in the restaurant industry this is a huge pet peeve for me !You should time the food properly !!Anyways the food was Bland at most which was soo dissapointing considering "real" prican food is very flavorful .And what kind of "fine dining restaurant puts plastic garnish swords on their mini jibbaritos ,talk about tacky ?And you shouldnt blast music early on in the night when its only the dinner crowd ...conversation was impossible and i would have liked to actully talk to my friends instead of yell. !Save your money people this place is too overpriced and needs to work on every aspect of the restauant !!!
Bland, bland, bland!. Although the ambiance at Coco is upscale, the food is not. I love Puerto Rican food, but this was the worst I have ever tasted, and the prices were outrageous for what is offered. My party and I were one of two groups in the entire restaurant, and it took 45 minutes to get our food. When it arrived, there was more plate than Mofongo, and it was try and tasteless. This restaurant does a disservice to Puerto Rican food, where the rich flavors are supposed to dance on your tongue.
Great food and service. Went here for my birthday with some friends and had a great time. I had pasteles, but my friends had some of the more modern dishes - everything tasted great. Waitress was very friendly and since it was raining when we left, the manager called a cab for us and gave us some umbrellas to use. Will definitely go back
