Lollapalooza 2008 Editorial Review
The Background
The brainchild of Jane's Addiction front-man Perry Farrell, Lollapalooza became the standard-bearer for contemporary touring rock festivals when it launched in 1991. Alumni such as Beck, Pearl Jam and Green Day have taken the stage in past years, performing before a growing audience of alternative music fans in the late '90s.
The Experience
The 2008 show will mark Lollapalooza's fourth summer in the Windy City and will showcase 130 artists including Chicago's own Kanye West, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Wilco, The Raconteurs and more. Spanning a good portion of Grant Park, the site will extend from lower Hutchinson Field, north to Buckingham Fountain and will encompass Butler Field where the Petrillo Music Shell is located. Tickets are available through Lollapalooza.com.
