The Scene – Neighborhood couples and families congregate at this corner restaurant to enjoy a tasty meal in casual surroundings. A short wall with banquettes on either side separates the bar area from the dining room. Exposed-brick walls and dark-wood tables create a pub-like atmosphere, while velvety curtains, colorful artwork and flickering candles lend a touch of hominess. Conversation buzzes alongside the sizzling sounds from the open kitchen along the back wall. – – The Food – Joey's specialty is generous portions of straightforward American cuisine at reasonable…

I hosted a surprise birthday party at Joey's. The managers went out of their way to help plan the menu, arrange and decorate tables for our group. The food was fresh and delicious. The chef had baked a fresh birthday cake, very delicious. Stress free entertaining for me & everyone completely enjoyed the evening .
- Pros: Fresh Food, Long Island Iced Tea & Fun
Embarrasingly bad service, horrible Saturday brunch
by jennyp2779
I went to their Saturday brunch (which was completely deserted). For $12 you can order all you want off the menu and drinks are just $1 a piece. Sounds like a good deal, but the food was decent at best....nothing to brag about. I've had much better. . it took FOREVER for food and drinks to come out. The service was beyond bad. We rarely saw our server at all and she was SO slow. They screwed up multiple orders. I would NEVER go back there again. even if my food and drinks were free. I would be mortified if I owned that restaurant and my patrons were treated that way. The bartender was also quite rude. Just a bad, bad experience. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Do not go here, trust me!
- Pros: Close to the El, close to other (better) bars and restaurants
- Cons: service, staff, food
terrible experience with Saturday "brunch"
by aharong
We went lunch around 2pm on Saturday. We were told it was the all you can eat brunch. The restaurant was almost empty. However, it took over ten minutes to get a waiter to our table. We were told we could help ourselves to drinks and banana bread at the bar...but they were out of iced tea and there were only a few pieces of picked over banana bread. The menu says the waiter will bring out hot artichoke dip as an appetizer...we had to ask for it, and even then he didn't bring it until halfway through the meal. I had to track down the host to get him to bring me iced tea to the table. Service was slow, even though the restaurant was empty. The food was OK...definitely nothing special. For a restaurant that specializes in comfort foods, I would expect that they could produce better tasting food than my ten year old niece (but they can't). We were definitely made to feel like we were inconveniencing the staff.
I don't know how it is at other times...and quite frankly I don't plan to find out. However, definitely avoid the Saturday "brunch".
- Pros: good location
- Cons: poor service, sub-par food, attitude
