  1. However, I received a cold, dry block of rice noodles with meager pad thai accoutrements, rubbery, greasy p-stickers and an apathetic response to my request that TAC Quick correct the substandard food they served me.
  2. TAC currently offers a special of crispy, deep fried battered water spinach (like broccoli rabe in texture) served with a wonderful topping of minced chicken, crispy tart mint and basil, marinated red onion and giant poached prawns.
  3. For the adventerous palate, there is an authentic Thai menu of items that are more likely to be served in Bangkok than Chicago.
  4. Great food, excellent service, BYOB, outside seating.
  5. Good food without disappointing human interaction was what I thought I would get.
  6. While a TAC Quick guest in the past, I tolerated the staff's poor attitude and dining room service in order to enjoy good Thai food.
  7. Outside of a select few places in Chicago, I am not a big fan of Thai food but I keep coming back here regularly!
  8. Undoubtedly though, the above review will impact some readers and point their business toward other, more delicious and friendly Thai restaurants.
  9. On a cold winter night, nothing warms the soul like TAC's rice noodle soup with barbecued pork and minced pork.
  10. Try the minced chicken with crispy fried basil and preserved eggs for a real change of pace.

L:ast Chance Given and Failed

While a TAC Quick guest in the past, I tolerated the staff’s poor attitude and dining room service in order to enjoy good Thai food. Last night though, I decided to try a different approach – delivery. Good food without disappointing human interaction was what I thought I would get. However, I received a cold, dry block of rice noodles with meager pad thai accoutrements, rubbery, greasy p-stickers and an apathetic response to my request that TAC Quick correct the substandard food they served me.

Hoodwinked, swindled, robbed – all describe the way I felt after a TAC Quick management member repeatedly told me, “it’s the way it’s supposed to be” and “it’s not fresh … it gets that way in transit.” The man on the other end of the phone also replied, “the restaurant can’t refund or remake the order because the kitchen is closing.” Unfortunately, at a cost of $16.65 – $4.95 p-stickers/$6.95 pad thai/$4.75 tax and delivery – last night’s dinner was supposed to be a treat. Before I conceded, I informed the man that I would post the above review and boycott his restaurant.

All that I’ve stated above begs the question to TAC Quick, what is the cost of bad business practice? The loss of my patronage may not be substantial. Undoubtedly though, the above review will impact some readers and point their business toward other, more delicious and friendly Thai restaurants.

Fabulous Thai Cuisine - BYOB!!!

by chrisegilbert at Citysearch

You can't go wrong here. Great food, excellent service, BYOB, outside seating. Outside of a select few places in Chicago, I am not a big fan of Thai food but I keep coming back here regularly! Last night, we ate for under $30 - which included 2 appetizers, soup, and 2 entrees. Favorites include: A clay p0t shrimp dish, ginger chicken, chicken pad thai, shrimp dumplings and Tum Yum soup (Thai hot and sour soup).

  • Pros: BYOB, Price, Taste, Portion Size (doesn't stuff you), Everything!
  • Cons: The bathroom is sort of weird.

Best Thai in Chicago

by willphil at Citysearch

Forget what you've been told about Opart and Spoon, both of which are fine restaurants, being the best thai in the City of Chicago. That title clearly belongs to Thai Authentic Cuisine or TAC Quick as it is known in the neighborhood.

Chef Andy fixes an amazing menu of standard Ameri-Thai including Moo Ping, Pad Thai and Tiger Cry. For the adventerous palate, there is an authentic Thai menu of items that are more likely to be served in Bangkok than Chicago. Feeling adventerous? Try the minced chicken with crispy fried basil and preserved eggs for a real change of pace. TAC currently offers a special of crispy, deep fried battered water spinach (like broccoli rabe in texture) served with a wonderful topping of minced chicken, crispy tart mint and basil, marinated red onion and giant poached prawns. All of this is lightly covered with a sweet and spicy sauce that will skip across your palate. On a cold winter night, nothing warms the soul like TAC's rice noodle soup with barbecued pork and minced pork.

TAC Quick is one of Chicago's great secrets. It's not to be missed.

  • Pros: Awesome Food, Reasonable Prices
  • Cons: The dining room can get crowded on weekends.
