This West Loop Mexican spot still shines amid the onslaught on new West Loop restos. The tacos still rock, and the jicama margarita adds the perfect amount of savory to the sweet drink.

It's not authentic, but the tacos are tasty and fun to share. Skirt steak and shrimp options are particularly tasty.

De Cero is a great West Loop casual taco spot. Pricey knowing that $2 tacos elsewhere might be better, but you're paying for the atmosphere, location and some pretty good food.
Tasty and Modern Twist on Taqueria.
Do not come here expecting your usual Mexican food restaurant!
This is a place for a fun and modern take on Mexican food. The taco platter is the best bet if you have more than one person, let everyone pick a few that they want to try and share. The rajas tacos and the braised duck tacos haunt my dreams in the best possible way!! Spoil yourself with fun and unusual cocktails like the Strawberry Mint Margarita or the Raspberry Basil Daquiri and don't forget dessert!
I like to order the mango cheesecake and the lime-honey berries and eat them together!
Great Tequila.
dont forget to check out their out door patio.

Loud and overpriced. Ok the food at De Cero is good, I will give them that. The steak on the steak tacos was not your regular skirt steak, but meaty chunks of meat. However, I think the prices are a bit outrageous. $3.00 for horchata (Mexican rice water drink, was bland and tasteless), $3.00 for a Jarrito (Mexican soda) and they even charge $1.00 for jalape?os! I'm not being petty, but I have dined at many Mexican restaurants where you don't have to pay for chips and salsa, they are complimentary. My husband and I got the Taco platter which had 8 tacos for $30. We were impressed by the exotic flavors and fresh ingredients. The noise level at De Cero was high; my husband had to yell to hear one another. I think De Cero is better fit for drinks and appetizers rather than an intimate setting. I would not suggest going for a romantic evening.
Go for drinks and chips/guac, NOT for the food.... Went with a group of friends for Cinco de Mayo. The margaritas were delicious, and the chips and guacamole were great. But beware of the food, which was pretty much way over-priced and tasteless. Especially the fish tacos, which were not cooked thoroughly and my boyfriend ended up throwing up the entire night, gross. My advice, if you're going to go, just go for drinks and chips...if at all.
good mexican food.
Seems they are not ready for large groups. No serving utensils unless asked, no salt and pepper.Need to give patrons dishes to fit the size of food. We got small saucer size dishes for quesadilla's that hung over the plate. We got larger plates when we asked for them. They need more practice on serving the food and what to put on the table. They do serve more than enough food for everyone.
The guacamole was awesome, I could have eaten the whole bowl of it. The workers were very cordial and pleasant. I will go back. The food is worth it.
Maybe not with a big crowd.
It's OK. Went for a work event - not in a private room. It's a nice, clean, cute, small, chic restaurant. Service was good. Don't expect traditional Mexican flavors or you'll set yourself up for disappointment. If you are looking to try something a little different in the Mexican genre, then this is your place.
mediocre tacos at incredibly high prices (and poor service). You will be disappointed if you have ever eaten at a good taqueria (in Mexico, the Southwest, or Chicago-- for that matter) for these are tacos made from factory tortillas, and with insipid white cheese. The meats are savory for the most part, especially the beef. They also have fancy furniture, techno music, and the possiblity of bragging about having eaten a duck taco. Their best perk, is a large selection of tequila (but very expensive). Their salsa and guac. are mediocre at best.
Great food, great fun!. I am really surprised at the previous reviews. I've been to De Cero several times and have always had an outstanding experience. I haven't strayed much from the tacos and the duck nachos, but they are always amazing. When I go with a group, we always get a sampler platter of every taco available (I think there are over 10) and each one is delicious! The atmosphere is fantastic and the service has always been superb (considering how busy it usually is). I give the place an A! p.s. Great tequila selection with fairly knowledgeable staff to recommend something new.
Great!. This place is awesome! Great atmosphere, good food and fabulous drinks. The person who composed the previous review should really learn to spell.
User review by betty2004. I love Mexican food!!! I've probably been in all the Mexican restaurants in Chicago. I was very excited about the new De cero restaurant recommended by my friend. Although the place had very nice interior, the food was horroble. The duck nachos were OK, but the chicken tacos and shrimp fehitas that me and my husband ordered were very tasteless. There were barely any meet and flavor. Chippotle burrutos have better taste. I think they paid too much attention to their interrior, but not to the food, which should be the most impotant part of a restaurant. I woild not go back there unless they hire better chefs who can offer true Mexican food.
