My Favorite in Chicago!. In a city FULL of tons of Thai restaurants, for me the best way to gage one is by 2 dishes. The Chicken Pad Thai and Thai fried rice with vegetables. My wife and I stopped by on a whim (since we like to do that with Thai Restaurants)

This is now the only Thai restaurant we go to. Take out or sit in, its quick and never dissapoints! They deliver too!!! Love this place.

Try It!. Everything I've had here is excellent and very fresh. I especially like the garlic pork, and the sticky rice is a welcome change from steamed white rice. BYOB, too. I recommend it!

Delicious and fun. Sticky Rice is far better than most Thai places I've been to. The menu is enormous -- it would require many, many visits to sample even a fraction of the dishes. For appetizers we had chicken Tom Yum soup and fried stuffed tofu. The tofu was so good we considered ordering another plate, but we thought we should save room for dinner. I ordered Gan Hung Lay (the first word actually has a g at the end, but Citysearch won't allow that word to appear -- censorship is so inane), which is a bowl of (very tender) pork, garlic, and ginger with northern Thai red curry. My girlfriend ordered a catfish dish that was good, but we encountered one problem with it -- she isn't crazy about ginger, and this dish was very gingery, but the menu didn't indicate that, so it was a mis-order. Still, she enjoyed what she could. Service was fine, no complaints. I'd get there a little early, as we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, and there's no seating or a bar for waiting patrons.

Bargain-priced and delicious. Sticky Rice is by far my favorite neighborhood Thai joint. The food for the most part is extremely delicious, and they have a huge menu, with many entrees in the $5.50-$7 range. The Northern Thai menu has some unusual and surprisingly tasty options. It's great for take-out, and dining in is a pleasant experience too- it's very casual but sunny and pleasant. The service is pretty good- some of the waitstaff are a little odd, but I've never had a problem other than post-ordering awkwardness. In short, it's a really great, economical way to get great Thai food at a bargain price, in a casual and pleasant atmosphere. Failing all else, it's definitely a great place to go if you like variety. Highly recommended.

You'll find Thai staples like pad thai, tom yum soup, and coconut curry in this casual, bright orange-and-yellow nook on Western Avenue, but the focus is on Northern Thai cuisine, which tends to be tangier. Specialties include pad hed poa, with stir-fried black pearl mushrooms and ground pork with chili paste, and gang hung lay, a mix of pork, garlic and ginger cooked in red curry. Dessert ice creams include coconut, taro, green tea and durian.
