The Scene
Aficionados of DWR's much-loved website will swoon for this rough space that's chock-a-block with each and every item they've ogled online. Now all those mid-century repros are truly within reach, in a pleasant, bustling meat-market loft that's decorated with giant photos, bios and quotations from design deities like Charles & Ray Eames, Isamu Noguchi and Alvar Aalto. Remember it's a showroom, so items still have to be ordered. But at least you can now see them in person.
The Goods
Le Corbusier confort fauteuils, Jacobsen ant chairs, George Nelson platform benches, Arco lamps--if it's a mid-century classic, it's here, and it's probably available in your choice of upholstery or color when relevant. Greatest hits from the 1950s share space with pieces by present-day heroes--check out those Philippe Starck transparent La Marie chairs.

i can't tell how i feel about this place...the customer service i received while in the store was impeccible, but after placing an order and leaving the store the rest of the experience just fell apart. i went into dwr looking for a couch. i find one i liked and the salesperson was very helpful in determining what colors were available and that an order could be placed right away so that i won't be waiting forever for it to be delivered. i come back in a few days later to look for bar stools, upon the recommendation that coming in to sit down in them, would provide a better idea than ordering online. again, the experience is a good one. i also look around for a desk and chair and find 2 suitable options and place my order that day for all of the items and ask that i get a copy of my orders to track. this is where it starts to disintegrate. with the exception of the bar stools which are shipped right away, i now have no idea when the rest will arrive. 4-6-8 weeks? i call after 4 weeks figuring there's no way that it'd be ready before. this is when i get my most helpful information from anyone who is NOT my original salesperson. even when i speak with that person directly and am promised a return call (at least 2 separate times) i NEVER receive a call back. only after hunting down others when i call in do i find out that my items should be arriving soon, except for one item on backorder for another 6-8 weeks. again i am promised a call back on delivery information and nothing. happy ending is that the rest of my items do arrive within the same week of my last call. i have cancelled the order for the backorder item and will NOT buy any furniture from this salesperson again...i could have gotten much better service online than in person! lesson learned? go into the store sit down and check out the look and feel of the furniture and then buy it online - i didn't even get any discounts (though mentioned) for purchasing as much as i did in person!
Pros: great furniture and in-store service
Cons: horrible post sale/pre-delivery service, better to buy online
