Swing by in the a.m. for the "egg in a hole" or scone and a coffee, or any time for an Airstream (aka Twinkie), a cake ball, or a house-made s'more.

Best kept secret in Ravenswood!. What's not to love about this place! The space is warm and inviting from the green walls and EZ bake ovens to the staff. The only problem is that a large chunk of my paycheck is spent at this bakery!! It's easy to see why there are so many "regulars" that frequent this place.

My favs: Vegetable sandwich, gazpacho and mac-n-cheese. Bakery items are amazing: thin mints, red velvet cupcake and whoopie pie - me OH MY!!

Go. There. NOW!

Delicious Buttery Cranberry Oatmeal Scones. I ordered a large box of cranberry oatmeal mini-scones for a co-workers birthday. They were reasonably priced for scones, and the size was bigger than I expected. The raves from our staff continue to echo. I have never eaten in the Bakery, though I've long admired the beautiful cakes in the window. I had called with less than a 24-hour notice (cakes, I learned, require a 48-hour notice) and was helped in the most friendly way possible considering I had no idea what I wanted to order. Excellent, buttery Cranberry Oatmeal scones. I think I've started an office tradition!

Not just for dessert. This place is known for its desserts but the sandwiches and salads are excellent too. Don't miss the malted-milk chocolate cupcake through; it's worth the trip.

Loved, loved, loved it!. I am shocked by the bad reviews. This place is awesome! Everything is incredibly unique and delicious. Of all dessert shops, this is my favorite. I am not just a lover of sweets, I'm an actual chef...and I still love it. I ordered a carrot cake from here and it was beautiful and tasty. The marzipan work is amazing. Try the pink marshmallow beehive cupcake - the chocolate malted cupcake - even the gazpacho. I think the price is completely fair - compare it to anyplace else - its the frickin city - everything is pricy and small businesses are doing their best to stay alive.

I'm so sorry to the write who got bad service. I've never been in when it was busy. I hope you change your mind and give it another try.

boston creme cupcake is deeeelish!. ... but everything is so expensive.

love the baked goods - muffins, cupcake, cookies, homemade twinkies - but, it's unfortunately too $$$ to make it a daily habit. the lunch/brunch food portions are teeny-tiny and $$$.

go for the baked goods when you want to splurge.

Not Worth the Hype. I'm sorry to say I too was pretty disappointed by Angel Food. They were featured on ABC 7's Hungry Hound. On my suggestion my family and I stopped there to pick up the much touted "Twinkie" like desserts and other items. We spent quite a few $ on several items. Overall we thought they were just ok, not exceptional. On a separate occasion my brother got my mother's birthday cake there - chocolate. It was also very expensive. It was rather bland and was severely lacking in rich, deep chocolate taste.

RUDE SERVICE!. I came with my friends to give my friend baby gifts and to just enjoy the ambience of a small, quiet bakery. When we arrived, the manager was short with us because we didn't make a reservation. She insisted on a time limit, and reminded us of that time limit by sending other servers to our table to remind us. Mind you, the place was never filled to capacity, and we all ordered food, drink and dessert. We were never loud or obnoxious. The taste of good food was spoiled by this rude person. I will never go back to this place, and I encourage others to find more friendly places to satisfy their sweet tooth. P.S. We were the only people in the restaurant that were not white--perhaps that was the problem? If the shoe fits...

Ravenswood cake bakery brings whimsical designs to life.. In Short
Self-taught pastry chef Stephanie Samuels, whose sugary creations have been featured on the Food Network, approaches her cakes as works of art. From a Carmen Miranda "drag queen" cake to a two-tier bowling pin cake topped with a bowling ball, bold colors and patterns demonstrate an appreciation for the whimsical, while more elegant designs satisfy traditional brides and grooms-to-be. Flavors include carrot-ginger, cappucino, lemon ginoise and orange.
