Better than expected...
I read the reviews for Doubletree in Downers Grove on Tripadvisor. I was staying there for a wedding and was a bit nervous on staying there. This was the hotel the bride and groom had rooms blocked off at...and it had the best review out of the hotels I researched in Downers Grove (which really isn't saying much...)
The hotel was clean and the room was clean. The only thing that wasn't fantastic was that housekeeping opened my door at 9:00am. If checkout isn't until 11, they shouldn't stop by until then. When I called the front desk regarding this, they told me I needed to put my DO NOT DISTURB sign up. I told them they could provide me with one and refrain from coming in the room for the rest of my four day stay.
The continental breakfast was ok but if you forgot your "coupon" you're not getting in. Same with the gym. The gym setup was very nice, the treadmills are Precor brand and very rickety, but the lap pool was great. I had my swimming gear in my bag and had the entire pool to myself.
I got a sweet deal on the room at $80 a night versus the bride and groom's rate of $99 or the normal rate of $159...so I would definitely recommend this hotel.
