“The great food and service ensure that nobody feels out of place despite the somewhat contemporary atmosphere.”
“From the goregous setting and ambiance, jazz music in the background, wonderful service, delicous seafood, wonderful presentation of wine, appetizers, and entree, to the little chocolate boxes with after dinner chocolate mints - it was a great dinner!”
“long time for water, longer for drink orders, even longer to get the drinks, forever to order meals and then finally our meals (well done hard steak instead of medium) with errors in the oder.”
“Huge sushi people”
“Everything from start to finish was excellent, their menu is fab, service was impeccable, meal was great.”
“It is difficult to duplicate a great restaurant another location, but they have done it!”
“Our server was helpful and the food was good but not the best seafood in town.”
“Food on the other hand was not that exceptionally good, but u could say that it was just right for ur money, though I didnt realize that the salad was not really included with the main course until I saw the bill.”
“The food excellent but the service was slow and our server seemed to keep forgetting things, it seemed almost that they were understaffed for the business levels.”
Great seafood.. This place is awesome. Great ambiance- music, decor, etc. Knowledgable staff. And the chilean sea bass was excellent. I will be going back, and I would recommend this place.
Fresh, fresh seafood..
Oysters so fresh, you'd swear they were swimming in the North Atlantic earlier that day. The sushi dishes are generous; more than enough to share. The seafood dishes are pretty mainstream, so it's safe to divert from your normal orders. The steaks are outstanding, as well, but really - you're at a restaurant made famous for it's seafood. Walk across the street if you want a steak.
Valet parking is reasonable ($10) and the attendants are quick to respond. Be prepared to spend around $80 per person, including gratuity.
once was more than enough. My husband and I went to BWG with a supperclub group of 16. We were seated quickly, the drinks were good and the wait staff was very helpful. The food however was awful. My sea bass was one degree above cold and several others at the table had the same experience. Several in the group ordered steaks and they too were not hot enough and a couple were quite fatty. One was not edible and the guest returned it. If you want to have a conversation, plan on shouting. the music is much too loud and lends nothing to the atmosphere. We will not go back
one correction.
Blue water grill no longer features live jazz. I went with my husband with the expectation of moving upstairs with cocktails for a romantic setting, but that was not the case. Fortunately, we asked our waitress first and she politely informed us of the misunderstanding. Apparently, they have not had live jazz for some time and the citysearch website has not been updated.
Other than that one disappointment, we had and excellent night. Our server was very accommodating and was happy to lend some recommendations. I don't think I would have tried the Red Snapper Bouillabaisse without her suggestion, and I was so glad I did! Also not to be missed: the baja roll & the creamy wasabi tuna roll. Delicious! Stay clear of the Lobster roll, though. We ordered it without her blessing and now I know why. Flavorless and chewy--there are much better things on the menu.
Do try this place. It seems to have a lot of bad reviews, and from what I can see that is a misrepresentation. We went on a Tuesday night, and it was perfect. Our waiter was attentive and courteous throughout, perhaps because they weren't as busy. I will definitely be back!
absent of the force and flavor they were. Good crowd, nice space, ok service but food disappointing. BWG was recommended by the people at the Pennisula. Hungry and expecting good things we were. First assault, suspect sushi. Followed by the waiter pouring tableside cool flavorless soup over a mound of tired seafood and looking at us like he had just refined the formula for the neutron bomb. A greasy shot glass of sake for 12 bucks. A soggy lump of white protein posing as halibut took up space on the plate, the only thing in common with its neighboring sides was mediocrity. If you like food and don't like seeing it abused, stay away from here.
Excellent meal, great service.. My husband and l dined here for dinner with a friend of ours.Everything from start to finish was excellent, their menu is fab, service was impeccable, meal was great.Whenever i remember what i had for dinner,l start to drool.Definitely going back.Great place for a romantic dinner.
Best Seafood in Chicago!. Everything here is wonderful from the sushi to the scallops (which are particularly good). Skip the fancy frou-frou rolls and just go or nigiri when the quality of the fish is this good! Non fish eaters, need not fret as the meat dishes are also great. The environment is pretty modern, but I've been here with everyone from friends, to interviewers, to my middle-aged (but very cool) uncle, to a 65+ year old couple and every time people have felt comfortable and enjoyed themselves. The great food and service ensure that nobody feels out of place despite the somewhat contemporary atmosphere. Totally lives up to its sister in NYC!
Great service from the moment we walked in, great food, great ambience.
They recently updated the menu to include more non-seafood items which is great. Although skeptical about ordering non-seafoood items at a seafood restaurant, my BBQ pork chop was perfect, as well as my girlfriends steak. Of course, we started with sushi (Baja Roll and Yahoo Roll aka BBQ Eel Roll as it used to be known as) which is always amazing, never dissapointing. Great wine list with selections from smaller "unknown" producers and the server was amazing. We decided to hang out at the bar before being seated, which even though extremely busy, seemed to be no problem when we told the maitre'd (very accomodating). The Blue Water cocktail is very cool and tasty!! After our drinks we were seated with no problem even though we thought because we took time at the bar, we may have to wait for a table, but no wait at all!!
Thanks for an amazing evening BWGC! YOU ROCK!
Excellent Service. Dinner at Blue Water Grill was a good dining experience. It started off great...good bread! The atmosphere was also great. Our waitress was friendly and the service was excellent. Huge sushi people ...and there's was great! Salad was good. Dinner was good, but have had better. Interesting flavors and nice presentation. Would recommend.
Great food, Great time. Before going to Blue Water Grill, I was a little hesitant after reading the mised reviews from many. I decided to try it anyways, and LOVED IT! I wanted the perfect place for my birthday, which was on valentine's day and I couldn't ask for a better resturant. The ambiance was pretty cool. It was relaxing and the noise level of music was just right. The only thing I would change is the type of music they played did not match with the resturant. The food was amazing! My mahi mahi was perfect and the steak was so tender. Sushi was good but they need a little more assortment. And of course our waitress was amazing! She was so sweet. She even brought out a candle with an amazing piece of cake for my birthday, without anyone even telling her. I would so go back! I had Great food and Great Time!
