Best Server in Chicago- Danny Levin

I love Rosebud, but Alex Dana got lucky when he hired Danny Levin as a server. Danny is a true professional that makes your stay at Trattoria one to remember every time you dine at Rosebud. He knows the menu and knows what I and my family like to eat. One of the better Italian American diners in River North. I really enjoy the grilled Tuna.

Now we know why there wasn't a wait

We ordered the clam chowder soup, twin filets, and the pasta special. The good part of the meal was the twin filets, and the rest was really unmentionable. Service started out nice; we were seated immediately at a little after 7pm on a Saturday night. Our waiter was very nice and attentive until he took our orders. Afterwards our food was brought to us, but no one checked to see how it was or if we needed anything else. Plates were taken away at the end and it was obvious the pasta was barely touched, but the busboy didn't ask about it, and the waiter didn't ask how our meal tasted.

Drinks were left unrefilled even after asking for refills. Seating was SUPER tight, having to shuffle tables so people could get in and out of the booths against the windows. I'm used to tight seating in Chicago, but this was to tight to the extreme.

We've been to other Rosebud restaurants (Gold Coast & Loop) and have really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, so we were a bit surprised that this one was a bit lackluster.

Cons: SUPER tight seating, mediocre service

One of Rosebuds Best!!!!!

This is the first time I've been in since the name change (It used to be Ballo). I was in on this past Monday and I was WOWED! The service was great, the food was delicious, and the managers made it even better! Short and Sweet...this place is great, and have already recommended it to everyone I've seen since Monday!!!!

Pros: Great Expierience!!!
Cons: Loud, But Fun!!

Pastas keep me coming for more!!!!

Have now been to Ballo three separate times for dinner, and I am looking forward to my next visit.

First off, if you are looking for a stuffy place this isn't the spot for you. Ballo is a fun restaurant not at all pretentious.

The food is top notch. The menu changes daily, and the kitchen is willing to make something up for you even if you don't see your choice on the menu. Nice touch. I have had everything from lasagna, chicken with a pesto sauce, to various other pasta dishes. All very good and prepared well.

Portions are ridiculously large so make sure you don't go overboard on appetizers. The desserts are also enormous, but who isn't willing to splurge on dessert?

I would definitely recommend Ballo to anyone looking for a fun casual spot.

Worst waitrress ever

Our waitress Amy was terrible. She was distracted, unattentive, and verry rude. She should be working at ihop. In fact, I've recieved better service at ihop. She needs to be fired immediately.
